Why does my polishing pad look like a chocolate chip cookie?

OK, I think this pad is ruined, and that sucks because it is fairly new.

ButI got done with it a few weeks ago, put it in its bag, and left, just like I do with all my pads.

Then I look at it today and it has black specs all over it, and some yellow specs. It does not however look as delightful as a real chocolate chip cookie, so I am rather upset.

I tried washing it and nothing happened. I'll go take a picture a little later - but what the hell happened????

Yep,,,,,sounds like a science experiment. You could try soaking it in some bleach and water to remove the mold and mildew then wash with some tide, rinse it several times with lots of water then let it air dry in the sun. The bleach and tide should remove it and other than, maybe, shortening it's useful life should not harm the pad or your car.

Well ah ****, I'll just buy a new pad. Damn. :p

I think you guys are right, the first thing I thought was mold - but I didn't think a pad could get moldy.

Oh well.

If you are using sealable bags. Seal them except for a little bit, push as much air as possible out, then seal it up. This should help a little.
