Why does it take me so long with P/C?????

What about using a UDM? Would that make it faster?

UDM is 20% more power than the PC so yes it will go faster but still not as quick as a rotary. I would not buy a UDM if you already had a PC I would get a rotary. Rotary for correction and PC for applying waxes and AIOs

I am interested to hear feedback on users with machines such as the Flex and whether it offers quicker corrective ability. I am a little apprehensive to go rotary all the way, but the Flex seems like it may fit the bill offering more power and yet is a DA.

Even with a rotary it still takes a very long time so even if you can get a more powerful DA its still gonna take a very long time. Paint correction cannot be rushed, it takes as long as it takes.

Well its nice to know that I'm not crazy, and it really does take "that" long to do it with the P/C.

I will get a rotary for next detail season hopefully.

While the rotary is faster and more effective than an orbital, it does have a learning curve. It is rather difficult to pick one up for the first time and be 100% comfortable with it. I would continue to use your PC and practice with the rotary until you have mastered it.

Thats why it is so hard to give an estimate. Most midsized cars i quote about 12 hours but it might end up only taking me 7 or it may end up taking me 15, never really know.

Took me about 8 hours (my first time with my UDM) for just correction and a wax on my 4DR Civic (this did NOT include the wash and clay which I did the night before to save time).

I did a basic two step compound/polish with some spot scratch removal as well. Also compounded my hood and trunk lid twice which added extra time.

It has never taken me less than 8 hours, sorry to say, and that didn't include anything but wash, clay and polish.

I just can't decide whether to purchase a rotary or just pay a pro to do it. Shouldn't need to do that much correction if washed properly.
