Why did USER NAME get banned?

I thought he was a clown, and am glad he is banned. Back last summer in a thread I told him that he brings to much drama to the forum, or something like that, and he sends me a PM calling me a "little girl".

So you you told him your opinion of him and he told you his of you and he ends up being the clown?

Public or private, if personal attacks and harassment are taking place = BAN. The end. IMO.

So if I have something against a certain member and we "attack" each other in PM I, or he, should be disallowed to participate and learn in/from this forum? It's one thing to make 50 posts in a public thread against someone and ignore warnings but if attach and harassment is the issue here and reason for banning, then we need some sort of explanation as to what exactly that is...

I guess I just want to know the true reason behind this and don't feel like going with the flow and just letting a random person get banned for posting his opinion on a damn wax...

I know someone is going to come at me for this but. Its really none of our business why he was banned. That is between him, the accuser, and the mods. If we had to know why every person was banned this board would be a mess. Just let it go, he made a mistake and payed for it. Move on please. But that's just my 2 cents

Edit,

Lets not let this turn into a shouting match again... So I think if you have a problem with why he was banned take it up with a mod. Not the public

Umm, no, he was a clown for incessantly harassing various members on the forum with little to no justification.

Shine, amen to that. It would be one thing if it was an isolated incident, but a good portion of his posts are simply bashing on other members. :down

Debating and disagreeing about products via PM is one thing but when turns into nothing more than a insult fest having nothing to do with detailing then I think that should be put to a halt. And this exchange was much more than 'my product is better than the one you use...' type of thing.

User Name and I had some rather, uhm...strongly held disagreements on some non-detailing topics. But he and I never had any real clashes; we agreed to disagree and had communicated (on detailing stuff) via PM quite amicably. So no problems between him and me.

BUT, there are some things that are not acceptable here at Autopia.. in posts, PMs, period. Yeah, the same stuff is considered perfectly acceptable on other sites, but that's neither here nor there. If Autopia is too touchy-feely/sensitive/whatever for some people, oh well, it's David B's house so he gets to make the rules.

I think Autopia lets a fair amount of "discusion" go without getting the super nanny to run into the mix. One of many reasons I will never go back to MOL is the catholic school atmosphere. BTW - loser, er.. user name was headed out the door weeks ago, like a spoiled child pushing his parents to see how far he could go before he got the trip to the woodshed.

Ha! I know exactly what you mean.

I often type answers to posts that annoy me, then, before actually sending, I read my answer again and delete it......because it would fan the embers.

Plus, I say (to myself), "What's the point?"

I gotta agree on both those points...I know User Name moved and wasn't too happy with his job situation...perhaps the wife and family were giving him grief from the other end (as a result of the move) and he had to let it out somewhere...

Ha!

Eh, I should listen to my own advice. I used "Send" on a pink slip thread instead of heeding my own advice. :wall

Now I gotta go look at what you posted there :D

Unless you did a ninja-edit of the "delete this post" variety...EDIT: Ah, too late, you already got quoted, huh? Heh heh, despite my, uhm...strongly held beliefs, threads like that are ones I've kinda learned to, uhm...ehr... approach cautiously or simply leave the [#&$%] alone.

Eh... I guess I just don't think most people have such shallowly considered beliefs that I'm likely to change them with some post to the internet, no matter how highly I think of myself :chuckle: "Wow, I've considered this from all angles, thought about it and studied it intensely, but that ol' Accumulator has shown me the error of my ways!" :grinno: :bolt

I have done that many, many times! Unfortunately, not nearly as many times as I have just posted away!

The one thing that I really like about this forum is (normally) how civil it is.

I should have had that discussion with myself before jumping in there. Actually, I did, as I always do, BUT, I figured.....wrongly.....after reading thousands of posts that parrot each other or someone else, and me just sitting by, doing nothing, maybe if I just......

eh, should've had that self discussion first. :)

Heh heh, it's that "hey, IMO somebody's wrong about something on the internet!" thing huh?

Maybe it's just that I've decided that *so* many people are wrong about *so* many things that I'll never correct 'em all anyhow ;)

But really...IMO the whole name-calling/etc. thing (like what got User Name in trouble) is just not *productive*. It's not even :argue

Raising my right hand.....I promise to do my best, to do my duty and......and.....when I get the urge to right a wrong, leap tall buildings in a single bound....I will......wash my vehicles instead. :)
