Who wash their car inside their garage (besides QEW)???

I always want to wash my car inside my garage but always worry about splashing water everywhere. Besides QEW who washes their car inside their garage?? Here is a describion of my garage, it's a two car garage, I have some stuff on two sides of the wall but I can manage to fit two cars without any problem (you can kinda imagen it). I only own one car so I don't have two cars in my garage don't worry :D. The floor is a little little bit tilted to the garage door so water MAY flow down a bit. Do you need more describion??? I'm a bit lazy to drive it out every time. No pics at the moment sorry, will take it ASAP. Thanks :)
 
...meaning when it's 20F or colder out. Most of the time I will rinse outside, bring the car in and wash it, put the car back outside and do a comprehehsive rinse. It then comes back in the garage for a final dry.



When it's too cold I will do all steps in the garage and then squeegee the water out. Not my 1st choice but recently it's been too darned cold to use my standard procedure.



If you are going to make a regular habit of it, I can suggest getting some plastic sheeting from HomeDepot and tacking that up on the walls so they don't get trashed from the water.:mad:
 
i just wash my car outside and then bring it in the garage for drying, waxing, etc.....that way nothing gets wet and its out of the sun
 
I too wash my car inside the carage during the winter months.

The rinsing can be done with a little smaller water pressure, that way it wont splash everywhere.

It takes a little more time but the result is as good as done outdoors in the summer.
 
In the winter I wash in the garage. I do have a floor drain though. I too use a lot less water pressure to cut down on the splash. My garage is insulated and I have never had a problem with freezing hoses the coldest it gets in there is maybe upper 40's (but no wind chill :D )



I also have the floor painted with Ucoat-it to so that clean up and squeege the water to the floor drain. The next garage will have at least a floor drain in each bay instead of sharing one (really like to have channel system drain).
 
I always wash my car inside the garage winter or summer...I don't have a drain, but a squeegee helps push the water down my driveway...

C-MDX, I think RedCarGuy also has a garage equipped to handle washes. You might want to check out some of his garage pictures.



I wash & dry outside...in fact, I also do a lot of detailing outside, but that's only because I have a nice, shaded driveway and it never gets cold here.
 
Do you have a thermostat in the garage? I would only try it if was above freezing in the garage because you could end up with a soapy sheet of ice! I haven't been able to wash my truck in 2 weeks, but I'm not willing to take the chance of my garage floor freezing or my water pipes busting, which may happen if you are using an outside faucet. I finally broke down and ordered me some QEW yesterday because I can't take it anymore. Good luck

I wash mine in the garage. I don't have a drain but do leave the door cracked about an inch so water can drain. I could care less if I get water on my walls but I usually don't. MY garage is heated which make sit nice but the driveway is like an icerink when I'm done :) Also the H2 is tougher to wash due to it's sheer mass, the Z06 was easier.

After reading this thread I decided to give it a try(washing my truck in the garage). I have always wanted to but never have so I went out to the garage a couple hours ago and now I am back.



Like others have said use low water pressure. Its a little easier for me since my water faucet is in the garage and it won't freeze. I plugged my heater in and it kept the garage at 60 degrees or so and I washed away, truck looks great. Yes more time consuming but its worth it, then when you are all done slip on a pair of ice skates and head for the driveway!



I will defiantly do it again!
 
Using QEW will save all that water running down the driveway. When using it you do not have to rinse the vehicle and save on water and the danger of ice forming outside your garage. I suggest you try QEW it is a great way to wash you car.
 
I do! I washed my Audi tonight. It was about 12 degrees outside. I made a special mixed-water tap that allows me to use warm water which makes things nice. I have a drain that is about the size of an extra large pizza.



I cranked up the TV, watched Friday Night Fights on ESPN. It's heaven!

I wish I had room in my garage, also wish I had heat in there too. I've been missing working outside lately, Omaha has more snow on the ground than ever recorded before. Here's one of the reasons I've cut back on the outside work:

dlw... as a close neighbor in Iowa I know the feeling, I went and got a oil filled heater ($30.00), from Menards. Not oil fired but oil filed electric heater, keeps my garage at 60 degrees or so my garage is also insulated. Another thing you could do let the car warm up to operating temp then pull it in the garage, of course turn the car off and let the motor help heat the garage.

I wash my car inside during the winter but its at the firestation and we have big floor drains and lots of room =). It makes it really nice as we keep the bay at 60 degrees.
