Since I have hot and Cold water in the garage now I have been using warm to wash with. I use to use warm water in my wash bucket and it seemed to work good but this washing with warm works great! Do you use warm water?

Thats a great question, I was wondering about useing warm water. I thought that I saw some posts on here about warm water or may be "hot" water that it might strip off the wax or polish. Anyone know if this is true or have any experience with washing with warm water?

I use warm water all the time. I adjust it so it is warm to the touch like a shower. If it were too hot, you'd be burning your hands. It works much better for cleaning the car as far as I can tell. I've yet to notice any drawback. Plus, it lets you wash in colder weather than would otherwise be comfortable. If the water were over 120-130 degrees F, you'd know it. So I really don't see why that would hurt a wax.

I heard that it can damage the paint, but I might be mis-informed.

I always use mildly warm water and it does work much better than cold or slightly warm water.

I remember once when I visited a good friend only to see him washing his car and finding out he used only cold water and dishwash :shocked

Another terrible thing was he would T-Cut his car every other weekend. I dont know much about this stuff but I would tell him eventually you will have no paint left :nono. Visited him a few months later and he had destroyed his clear coat on a 2 foot square patch on his door :shocked

Its amazing how badly people treat (or dont treat!) their cars. I'm sure 95% of the population of the UK simply hasnt got a clue. Very sad, is there no helping these people :nixweiss

Sorry slightly OT  :p

I suppose warm water would soften carnauba, but I don't see any adverse effects necessarily, unless the water is too warm.

I can see very hot water been used on a very cold panel causing some problems, but under normal circumstances I cannot see it really causing any problems for the paint or the wax. Think about the extremes the car lives through, if some hot (I dont mean boiling) water removes wax, I would say it is a problem with the wax.

The temp of a summers day on the surface of the car can be very high, even in the shade it can still be warm to the touch, yet many of us would not consider this to be a problem when washing our cars.

I use warm water because I dont really like sticking my hands in hot water.

I only use luke warm water though.

You know when its too hot when you wash the car and it gives those fog marks on the paint work, like from the heat of the water (mainly on dark colour).

Have not had any trouble with the warm water stripping wax at all.

I've been using warm water for years during the winter time. Keeps your hands from getting too cold. I've never noticed any problems with it.

I use warm water, about shower temperature like Aurora40. I fill up some hot water in the bathtub then fill the rest with cold water from outside as I'm mixing the soap.

I don't use "hot" (ouch - almost) water especially when the finish is cold because it can definitely crack the paint. Just like taking a hot drinking glass and dousing it in cold water....

Me to, I use warm water to wash

rinsing is cold water of coarse

but drying (rinsing MF) and interior is allso warm water

I have used warm water for years. I only use "soft water" though. I'ts milder on the finish and it does'nt leave spots like hard water.

:bounce :xyxthumbs

I fill the bucket with hot water from the tap, then blast it with just enough cold from the hose to make more suds. Easier on the hands for most of the year.:up

I use warm water also. It also helps get rid of those stinking bugs that always attract to the front of my Stealth! Warm water hasn't caused any adverse effects on my wax.

Warm water is nice (especially soft water), but the warmer it is the less energy it has to absorb to evaporate. Meaning it'll dry quicker.

Just putting a check on this "warmer is better" thing before someone boils their car. :p
