Who manufactures BFWD ?

Some vandals spray painted my garage door the other day.

Luckily the only paint that got on my car, was the overspray from the paint can onto one of the front alloys. Unforunately the paint is dried in now.

I was wondering what is the best thing to remove the paint without scratching the alloy.

I was thinking of trying Autoglym Paint Renovator which has a very light cutting action.

Any ideas ?

I'd give mineral spirits (paint thinner) a try first. It may still be fresh enough that it will wipe right off.

If DavidB suggestions does not work you should be ok to use the Autoglym Paint Renovator, but dont forget to put some Super Resin on afterwards.

As a wild idea, would clay be worth a try?

Autoglym paint renovator did the trick. Alloy now perfect.

Except...the sister took the car for a drive without me knowing and scuffed the same alloy off the curb. Only about an hour after me cleaning it !!!

Dealer wants 200 Euro for a new alloy or 120 to fix it.

As the damage is only about an inch long on the rim, I just got some silver touch up paint and now you'd hardly notice.

As for washing/polishing/waxing, here is what works for me.

I mainly use Autoglym products as they are the most widely available high quality car care products Ireland. But also managed to get some 3M IHG and Blitz Wax.

1. Wash with Autoglym Bodywork Shampoo Conditioner.

2. Remove tar with Autoglym Intensive Tar Remover.

3. Dry with Absorber.

4. Polish windows with Autoglym Glass Polish.

5. Treat bumpers and plastic trim with Autoglym Bumper Black.

6. Treat tyres with Autoglym Tyre Dressing.

7. Clean and Polish paint with Autoglym Super Resin Polish.

8. Remove very light scracthes and marring with 3M IHG.

9. Wax with Blitz.

10. QD with Meguairs Final Inspection.

I have thought that BFWD is probably a private label product.

After all PAC's primary business is distribution. Also, check the label on BFWD and it mentions Classic Motoring (PAC) as distributor.

In the closing of PAC there has been mention of the warehouse and distribution employees but nothing about any manufacturing.

My guess it that it is a private label of a Menzerna manufactured product.

Anybody know and willing to share?

But if you like BFWD, stock up now before PAC closes. It's on sale and it will help PAC both financially and in clearing the inventory.

I will bet my lifes savings Blackfire will continue on :wizard:

Unfortunately my lifes savings in only 52 bucks. I am however willing to go "ALL IN" :money:

Trouble /:)

Does the BFWD have a Shelf Life or Expiration date?

It's a good idea to stock up for the long term especially since it's on sale. But it doesn't make much sense if you end up throwing the product out because it's lost it's effectiveness.

Just curious.

I have liquid polishes and waxes that I've had 10 years or more. As long as they don't expierence extreeme temps, they'll be fine IMO :wizard:

I think that Todd makes it in his basement LOL. I am sure some major manufacturer makes the product but I do not expect anyone to make that public. I have products manufactured for my company under contract and there are major confidentiality clauses with damage language.

If the manufacturer reveals the source they could be liable for a whole host of law suits that are not worth the sales the "press release" would generate since they would have to give back all profits in addition to damages.

If Black Fire is sold off or marketed it will survive. If not, I expect a new Black Diamonds wet Fire or some such play on words to surface and you will know what that will be LOL.

If the formula is owned my PAC it might die a slow death. Reverse engineering a product bib by bit is very expensive and if patented, is illegal and legit companies will not do it.

I love BFWD. I have a new bottle and when its gone, I will lok around and hopefull ask the guys on this forum what to try. I did get some Power Lock this week to check the similaraties out myself. I hope it is as slick and easy to use as the BFWD with in my opinioln is the best I have ever used. My experience is very limited compared to this board.

The newer BFWD has polycharger in it, so I also worry about shelf life once it's been opened.

I would hope that, if PAC makes BFWD and BFMS, they will either continue to do so and distribute through another company or sell the formula and rights so that it can live on.:Gift:

I just wish they would give us some indication whether we should stock up for a year or :eek:X_X:10 years. I ordered enough to last me about a year.:D I figure by then I'll either find out where to reload or have time to test other products to find one I like half as much.:yawn:Boo Hoo:(

I asked PAC if blackfire had a shelf life and they said it does. usually 3 years. This really goes for any products out there.
