Who has used Griots detailing products??

I have used their polishes with good results. #3 was not enough to rid my black jeep of swirls but #2 did an awesome job. If you break it down enough you won't need to use their #3 to get rid of any haze. The best results I got were with their orange pads. The yellow and white from CMA did not seem to be as effective. I used them with my pc started on low and worked my way up in speed as they started to break down. Their polishes do tend to leave quite alot of dust. I went over the jeep when I was done with alcohol to make sure that no fillers were hiding swirls. The result was a jeep that had absolutely no swirls in direct sunlight. It was unbelievable. I will be doing this process again once the weather warms up. This time I will take pics and post them here since no one has done a write up on griots polishes. That was my first pc and polish experience and I couldn't have been more thirlled. I feel confident enough to do my ultra babied pewter WS6 this spring....time to strip 70+ coats of Z-5 and Z-2 and experiment with something that will give it more sparkle.

One place where my experience has differed from yours is with the 100% cotton towels. I find the "DRY" towels aren't too absorbent and the "WAX" towels aren't as soft as my Charismas. They do wear like iron, though.

I actually don't use the towels you are refering to. (11112 & 11113)

I use the Cotton Polishing Clothes #14600

JB in Irvine-OK, my bad. But I don't like the #14600, either! Probably the lack of nap, but I just didn't like them as much as my MF's and Charismas, but I'm glad they work for you. Plenty of other people use them, so never mind me..:p

WS6Seth- Very interesting! I've used their polishes a lot (since the days when he sold yellow/white pads and his previous generation of polishes) and I keep thinking I'll switch to something else, but I never do. I agree that you can just use #2 without #3, in fact Griot used to just recommend #2 by itself. Heh heh, your black jeep is a much tougher test than anything I'm doing, so :xyxthumbs to your use of Griot's polishes! I'd like to see you post a product review of them. They seem to get nothing but negative comments (including from me, on other posts  ) so your experience would provide some balance. It's not like they are BAD products or anything.

BTW - The big yellow wash bucket... Although my PC came with a hard case, I find the yellow bucket will store a PC perfectly and has slots that will allow you to store about 6 pads! I remember someone looking for a PC case here before and I should have chimed in....just thought of it now..

You can also go to Harbor Freight and buy an aluminum or plastic case with foam inserts you can cut to fit whatever you store in it (such as a PC). They have handles and/or shoulder straps (as opposed to a bucket) and are under 20 bucks...

Maybe Coastal Tool has the same thing?

I'll be looking to buy a PC in the next month. The one in Griot's catalog looks like it comes with a case but it's also 200 bucks. Can't tell which model PC it is. Is it really worth the 200 bucks? You can get the 7336 at Lowe's for around 100 bucks (without case). Griot's ad says it has a rubber backing plate as opposed to a plastic one? Is that what CMA's or Lowe's PC has? And does it really make a big difference?

its the same PC. it just comes with a lifetime warranty.. if it ever breaks they will replace it for free

TurboCat- If it matters, you can get whatever backing plate you want (counterweights too) from PC dealers or direct from PC. The have nice, fast service. Griot's lifetime warranty MIGHT be worth the extra $, I had to have my PC rebuilt. And the case that comes with the Griot's one is pretty nice (but large).

JB in Irvine- IMHO, the best microfiber towels currently on the market are from YoSteve (plush, for everything except drying), and MicrofiberTech (try Microfibertech.com, that might be it, I forget) for waffle-weave towels for drying. I haven't had ANY problems with towels from these sources, and if you DO have problems, Steve and Ian will take care of you/make it right. There are other, more specialized (suede-like, no appreciable nap) MF's for wax/sealant removal available from Irene at Top-of-the_Line and Terry at CMA . These also work well for windows.

Accumulator,

Thanks for the tip! I don't know where you are in NE Ohio (I am in Cleveland) but I noticed Porter Cable has a service center/office in Valley View (near the Quaker Steak n Lube and Cinemark). Maybe I'll stop in there once it stops snowing!!
