Who does the yellow book?

I had some extra funds in my advertising budget so I decided to try the yellow book. I will see how the responses go, my friend who owns a cleaning business swears by it. Book comes out in Jan, goes to 200,000 homes. I checked the detailing heading and their is little to no competition. If you own a pizza or heating business I don't know how they do it because I must of seen at least 10 pages in each of those headings. Let me know if you have used the yellow book and if you had success. Gary

I used to run a small insert ad for the first few years I was in the Yellow Pages but took it out several years ago since I was one of only two mobile detailers listed in Arlington. If someone is looking for a mobile detailer, my business name makes it really obvious I am one. No change in the percentage of new business either. 6% just like it was with the insert ad.

I'm listed in the Yellow Pages it comes with my bus phone # I get a few calls from it but one thing you have to know about advertising is it's best to have three advertising running at the same time. There is a common saying people have to see your ad three different times before they will call you. Being listed in Yellow Pages having a sign on your truck/car/trailer, word of mouth is the best advertising, Bus cards, your name on T-shirts, Doing community work is great and some times your bus gets in the paper for doing so. Running an ads in the newspaper & yellow pages cost to much. If I remember right? round here its 120.00 month for a vary small ad plus the 40.00 a month for a bus phone. Having bus # comes with being listed in the yellow pages.

I paid $83 a month for a one year run, they gave me as a first time customer a month for free. total was $913.00. I will see how it goes for a year, the reason I had some extra funds laying around is because most of my other advertising is free. That 's the best kind. Gary
