I have a question for the diesel truck owners.

Did you purchase your truck for work (tow a trailer, boat or farm work) purposes or did you just want to have a diesel truck as your daily driver?
B/c their fun to drive when modded, gotta love a HD truck running into the 12's quite easily and getting better mileage than stock. The effortless torque band etc. GM got rid of their big block 8.1, Ford still has the V10 which is good but no way would I choose over diesel, and Dodges Hemi in the HDs is worthless to me with its mileage and power. And teh trucks are comfy on long trips.

Finally got a chance to take a few pics of my truck. Didnt get a chance to wash it, Toooo cold Also my audi next to the truck.

Nice Truck dmxjg35. I see you have the edge unit. I have one in my truck too and i could not imagine a diesel without it.

Yea I love it, adds some nice power and mpg. I wish I had the tranny mods to run it on the hot setting which adds like 180hp

I just am a little embarrassed to post pictures of a truck that has no lsp on autopia. I will try really hard to get some good ones up here asap.

hmmm, well now all the pics are working.......i like the trucks....

dmx...have you ever thought of stacking or swapping a smarty in your truck instead of/along with the Edge?

I would LOVE to get a smarty, but I haven't upgraded the trans yet, nor can i afford to get gauges too right now. Im gonna stick with the edge for a bit (got a smoking deal on it) since it has the gauges built in as well as setting to defuel if the trans slips so i can save the trans a bit while I save up for a new billet trans.

I know a lot of the guys on the duramax forums like to step up to EFI live as sort of the highest tune you can do. I don't know to much about the cummins, but if you want a ton of power, remapping the ecu is definately the way to go.

everything you just said will still work......the gauges will still work with the smarty stack, and the truck will still defuel when set to certain parameters.

i drive a 1995 f250 powerstroke 7.3. great trucks. at 269000 right now the truck has never ran better.

just a couple aftermarket things on it... ts performance 6stage tuner, upgraded map sensor(boost fooler) pillar gauges (i hold at 13psi and pull at 22psi) as well as a 4in str8 pipe. outside the truck has mickey thompson wheels and is "ford" debaged with international logos. and i see 20-22 mpg.

i will try to post picts when i clean her up again but wait a few days because of the blizzard coming to chicago

At what mileage did you do the mods? I had no idea trucks like these got such good mpg.
