White cars are boring ... do they have to be?

I have a white car, and i treat it like a red head step child.

My issue isnt the paint, its the aging trim, headlights that are scratched, and just an overall feeling that the car is getting old.

A good white paintjob is always better than a bad one. Im a ford truck guy, so i look at OP on pickups.

Look at a barebones F-150 and notice the OP, then look at a King Ranch F-150. Doesnt even look like the same paint.

Then again at the gas station i was looking at the door and fender of a new black Escalade....LMAO the OP was horrid.

I like white on Ford Trucks,Chevy Trucks, Lexus, Infinity, lincoln, and some others, but i dont like white on Vettes, Dodge trucks, caddy's, BMW, or Audi to name a few.

*Edit, i like white on X5's/.

I had 2 white cars. I miss them!! White can have a very "clean" look. I liked that it didn't show many imperfections. I now have ablck car and it drives me crazy, I'll never buy black again. Put the time into the prep and the details like the trim and wells and that will make your car pop!

Good Luck!

I have 2 white vehicles that I care for. Before Autopia I always loved white because I could keep it clean and it really showed. Now, post-Autopia, I can keep the cars shiny but you can't really tell how much work I've put into them. It's hard to define "shiny" for my cars. And what is "Warm" when talking about a white car?

I have all the products from Rubbing compound to klasse aio and sg, even P21s. What else can I do to really make my white cars stand out? I've only used aio and sg so far. I'm wondering if the P21s will make my car look any different, or did i just waste 30$ on the wax?

Thanks!

Donovan

Same applies for silver and very light colors. No matter how hard you work, you just have a clean car. No deep and glassy shine... Dark or even lightly pigmented cars (even yellow) show your work... On the other hand white and silver do ot show dirt and dust as much as dark colors do... Depends on what your taste is... I am also sick and tired of efforts which do not show. All my 3 cars following each other were silver and I will go for a black one after seeing how nicely my wife' s brand new jet black babe shows the work done. AMAZING !!! But any swirl, defect shows ruthlessly and any mistake goes unforbidden !

Good luck...

I prefer a nice sealant topped with carnauba. I used Mothers FX topped with #26 on a white Trailblazer with platinum lower paint. Had a nice pop to it. I don't think I would ever own a white car, too boring of a color imo.

Well, we all have our own personal tastes, but I think this thread has pretty well proven that white doesn't have to be and definitely isn't a boring color. I have a black mustang that I enjoy and when polished and waxed looks very sharp, but it drives me crazy how much time I have to spend on it to get it looking that way. A well detailed white vehicle can look very rich and luxurious, but also be low maintenance compared to dark color vehicles. As much as I like to detail my cars, I prefer driving them way more than detailing them. :grinno: :buffing:

We all know about the importance of the prep, and once that's accomplished i like AIO+Ex-Px2+nattys clear paste. Never tried nattys blue yet on white bit i think the blue looks better on "colored" cars.

I have a lot of white cars. The trouble with white is it only has depth in low light situations and then only at certain angles. In the full sun no matter how much time you spent on it it will always look dull.
