How bad do you speed? I've had a V1 for the almost 3 years but haven't had it in my car for the past 4 months. It has saved me on NUMEROUS occasions, but I've learned now that while it is indeed a great help, it's not NECESSARY to avoid tickets.
You can do just as well without one as long as you're paying attention to your surroundings. For example, try watching other drivers, if several cars ahead of you start braking suddenly, take the hint.
If you're speeding on the highway and you're by yourself, don't speed in the left lane, try to stay in either of the middle lanes as often as possible. I've passed a motorcycle cop on the left shoulder clocking people and I going 80-85mph in a 60mph zone in the 3rd lane over, all he could do was wave to me to slow down.
Don't speed excessively on the highway at nighttime, unless you have a car in front of you shielding the way.
Look ahead at all times, picture the area you're driving around and imagine yourself as a cop, where would the good hiding spots be?
These are some tips to help you avoid tickets, but remember, just because you have a radar DETECTOR (keyword) does not mean you won't get a ticket. They can still clock you and give you a ticket, the difference with the radar detector is that you know when they clocked you.
IMHO, if you're willing to spend some bucks on not getting a ticket for awhile. Invest in a V1 and a Laser Shifter ZR3 (jammer), I know three people (brother included) who have these and they can all vouch for how many times the jammer has saved them.
