Which will correct the Best

Got a 15 year old Honda CRV and it is very badly swirled. The following are the polishes I have to work with. Which would have the best ability to get rid of fairly bad swirls? Poorboys SSR2, XMT2, Menzerna Intensive polish, Optimum Polish, or Meguiars Mirror fine cut cleaner #2. I also have FP 11 or Einzsett Express Polish to finish with.
 
They are all about the same as far as aggressiveness. You may want to go with Optimum Polish because you can work it for a long time. BTW, what type of machine are you using; orbital or rotary.

I guess some people need to have somebody else show/tell them how to do something and some people can or like to figure things out for themselves.



It's like my mom asking me to come over to hook up her answering machine on her phone...it's not exactly rocket science, she has the manual that came with the answerer, but she doesn't like to figure things out. :nixweiss

I like to do detailing stuff but incase you havent notised i am the same way (or close) as this guy. I am lazy and therefor dont want to get out of my chair. lol

All he was asking was the forum's opinion. Opinion's are like *** holes, everyone has one, but no need to be one.
 
There always has to be someone with a smart a** comment or post. Maybe he just wanted to save some time or has a limited supply of pads and didn't want to have to clean them if one of the polishes didn't work as well as the other. What is this forum for if people can't ask questions?



Baker- Most of the polishes will correct about the same. Now you can get more out of them depending on what pad or polisher you are going to use. I would use atleast an orange and maybe even yellow (if using foam) on a car that old. Good luck and on something that old done properly you can get some outstanding results. The older cars are what got me into detailing in the first place. Anyone can get a 05 or 06 to look good. But a 15 year old car takes an Autopian to make it right.



By the way BigJim isn't that what we are all on here for?
 
Well I'm in love with Menz products right now, so I'd start with the IP with an orange foam. Then maybe the Opti.
 
Thank you for the answers that are constructive anyway, most of these products are new to me and I would rather have an experienced opinion than take a chance in harming someones car. BTW I am using a porter cable and orange pad.
 
Been thinking about this thread I started a bit and it certainly seems to have gotten out of the spirit of the Autopia I know. It was insinuated I was lazy by a complete stranger and also don't ask for advise, "just do it". Seems to be uncalled for insults. I asked a pretty simple question, if youi don't want to help me, than just don't answer. You can't learn if you don't ask.
 
I think you misinterpreted my "Just do it" comment ... it was meant as advice, not an insult. Do you think the Nike ads are really intended to insult their audience, or rather to inspire and/or encourage? My comment was meant in that spirit.



All products, pads, speed, pressure, paint, defects, etc. combinations will yield different results. The best way to determine what will be the most effective for you is to actually perform the work. The "Just to it" was to say .... "Don't worry, start applying what you've read here, see what works for you, and don't suffer from analysis-paralysis. Doing it will help you understand what works best more than just talking about it"



I agree with your statement "you can't learn if you don't ask" ... but I would add "you can't learn what works best for you on your car unless you actually physically do it".



You'll also note that my first response directly gave advice about what polish in your list I would recommend.



Just my opinion, please take it as advice and not an insult. ;)
 
Baker, I've used Menzerna IP and FFII and even with a PC - got good results. I'd start with an orange pad and IP, take your time, it will dusts and you will need to either wash or QD before going to FFII (white pad). Some of my details are older cars that only get the 5 dollar touchless car wash between details. These are not bad, no swirl marks! But they sometimes have bug guts that are a pain to get off. IMHO, old paint is easier to make look good than new paint that someone swirled up.
