Now that I'm tons smarter about detailing thanks to reading these posts, (thx guys ... :yourrock) I can't find an answer to this by a search:
Which car wash soap do you use for a non-stripping action, but just to clean only? I love the Chemical Guys Citrus Wash, but it does a fairly good job of stripping away wax/sealants. I'll keep using it when necessary. But I think I want to buy a softer soap for when I DON'T want to do ANY stripping of wax/etc. Which one do you prefer?

I've been using Poorboys super slick and suds for years. He also has one with wax added that would be good for regular washings.
 
CG Citrus Wash does not strip wax unless you mix it accordingly. Use one cap to 4 to 5 gallons water for normal wash. I use CG Citrus Wash 'n Gloss often, along with Megs Shampoo Plus, and Turtle Wax Ice.

Mothers is another quality shampoo.

As Mr. Gloss mentioned, there's a non-stripping maintenance dilution for CG CW, should be on the label. I use CW&C at maintenance ratios because it just gets things really clean. CW&G has more suds and seems more lubrous when things are kinda gritty. Both can be mixed for maintenance washes as well as a stripper.

I picked up a bottle of DG 901 at Car Quest the other day... nice berry smell, good lubricity and suds. My old standby is Meg's Gold Class... just a good basic wash that does what it's supposed to economically and it's available almost everywhere OTC.

I can't comment on the specific wash you are using, but I would generally concur with the comments above that there is likely a dilution available that will not adversely affect your lsp. I also agree with the suggestions of both the DG 901 and Meg's Gold Class soaps as alternatives. I must also add that IMO everytime you touch your vehicle be it washing or QDing (have we actually made that a verb? :)), the mechanical action of rubbing your painted surfaces will have some impact on the lsp. And thus the arrival of the "booster" type products for maintenance use between "wax" sessions.
 
I LOVE Optimum Soap! Love the smell and suds. Cleans well for maintanence washes. Another soap that may not be on many of your radars but DoDo Supernatural soap. Very high dilution ratio and super suds!

I like DG 901 because it seems to add gloss along with cleaning.
I think they put a gloss enhancer in the soap because it sure looks good after washing with 901
 
CG Citrus Wash 'n Gloss adds a lot of shine too. I'm not one to use pricey car shampoo since the same results can be done for much less money.
 
Usually, I use the optimum car wash. I've tried the Griot's car wash and was pretty surprised at how well it cleaned without stripping.

The only time I use something else is if I'm using the foam cannon/gun. That's when I go with DP Xtreme Foam Formula.
 
Another vote for DG, sure wish I could still get it locally. These days I really just use that and Griot's.

OT, but I'm going to try the (DG) rubber and tire dressing. I'm learning that local can be a great source of car care products. Mequiar's and DG are two fine examples.

The Brilliant Solutions Car Care Kit is a brilliant idea. They may sell millions of those packages. IMO, that's the best time to make a sale to a new car owner.

Thanks Mr. Gloss. None of those chains in my immediate area :( but I'll certainly stop by one if I see one in my travels.
