Which to use for winter LSP?

Will have to try this for my winter prep, I have a darker blue subaru, would this be ok?

You're referring to the FK1000P, right?

The look might not be what everyone would prefer on a darker color, but I'd use it anyhow. And who knows, the look might be exactly what *you* like! It's sure not gonna lood "bad" or anything.

FWIW: I emailed Finish Kare a year and a half ago and asked how long one should wait before applying a second coat of 1000p. JJ Jhaveri, president of the company, replied: "24 hrs to couple of days." He did not, however, give me a reason for this delay.

No, it's more serious that that. I was able to sort out the problem by buffing with MFs and FK425, but I had to get mighty aggressive about it and I'd hate to try that on softer clear. Noting that I *was* working on a big vehicle, sorting this out took pretty much a full afternoon. Redoing it (something to strip it, then KAIO, then fresh FK1000P) woulda been a *LOT* faster, but then I would have ended up with less FK1000P on there (no, I had no evidence that my buffing away the issues removed so much FK1000P that I was left with just one coat after all).

This isn't as serious an issue as the pseudo-holograms one can get with Collinite 476S, but it's still considerably worse than some minor "oh, I'll just wipe that away, no problem!" type of thing.

Have you ever noticed the pseudo-holograms from over application in sections or if you have left it on too long?

Since I have darker vehices, I think I will play it safe and wait at a minimum 24 hours just to be sure that FK1000P has cured fully before another layer

They were quite uniform over the entire vehicle. I doubt it was from leaving it on too long; once the product has flashed off I'd expect any solvent action to be pretty much done. And on that one I was sometimes working section-by-section as opposed to my usual "do the whole vehicle and then buff it off".

Hope that's long enough. It is for many (most?) people, but in my case it wasn't long enough. These days I wait at least a week, doing it after the next regularly-scheduled wash.

Blackfire would be the best choice

Eh, leaving aside the look (darkened Audi silver too much for my taste), I've never had BF last all that long. Not in the FK1000P range by a long shot IME.

No, I'm not hating on BF, I just think of it as more of a beatuy sealant (like the UPP I switched to for that kind of application) than something for extreme conditions like winter.

I too think of BFWD as a beauty protectant and have used it successfully on my S2K during the winter; but my car is garaged and though driven regularly during the winter months, it does not have to weather the elements like many other vehicles do. So if durability is a decisive consideration, I would have to recommend FK1000p or one of the Collinites as a winter protectant.
