Which pad cleaning tool?

I think you'd be able to get by with the plastic one especially with foam pads. If you plan on using wool pads then go with the first so you can use one tool for both types of pads. As long as you don't use too much product you may be able to get by without a pad spur with the PC, but as for the rotary-that is a different story.

Thanks, BudMan----I ordered a wool pad to use as a cushion under a MF bonnet, but don't plan to use it directly on paint as I have no experience yet. Plus, my cars a brand new now, and don't need a wool pad. However, I may to some detail work on my kids cars, and they need major help, so it is possible I'll use the wool at some point.

The price isn't the issue, I just want the best tool for the job, and was concerened maybe the spur tool would eat up too much of the pad.

I have a DUO SPUR and IMO its not worth it with a PC I have better results with a stiff plastic brush the duo spur never really got the foam pads clean not like what a brush can do

Thanks, Harry. I guess I'll go with the plastic tool.

Ditto. A spur works best on a rotary. A toothbrush will do essentially the same thing. I've tried to spur a pad on the PC, and it's honestly easier to just pull it off and wash it out.

I have the plastic one, too... picked it up locally at the PBE shop. It has been doing well for me, but then I was also doing fine when I was just using a denture brush... :D

I do not have any tools specific to cleaning my pads. I have always thought it to be not worth the money. Have used a toothbush for both the rotary and PC for a while now and am very satisfied with the results.

I know one rather respected member of this board said when asked as to what he used to clean his pads that he used his keys for his auto to spur his pads.

Yet, if money is not important, I guess that it would not hurt.

Thanks again, everyone.
