Which line of cut-polishes should I go with?

Hello there,



I've been using Meguiars polishing rotary pads and polishes for a while; they achieve decent results. I am now contemplating on switching out to another line.



Would you recommend Menzerna polishes over Meguiars? What is your take on HD products?



For polishing pads, what is your take on Meguiar's diamond-cut pattern rotary polishing pads? Would you recommend switching over to Lake Country pads?

I just absolutely love Menzerna polishes. While a bit expensive, I think that they provide a deeper shine/gloss than using Meguiars polishes not to say that I dont use 105/205 combo with great results.



Dont know anything about HD other than they have become popular lately.



U wont be disappointed with Menzerna. Someone correct me if Im wrong but Menzerna was devloped for use on Mercedes Benz production line to correct any paint defects.
 
I recall Menzerna developing a polish to specifically work with MB Ceramic Clearcoat.



Which brand of rotary polishing pads would you recommend??



Does anyone know how HD compares to Meguiars or Menzerna? Should I make the jump to Menzerna??

Which Meguiars polishes were you using? If you weren't using the 105/205 combo, don't rule out Meguiars yet. These two polishes are totally different animals and have been getting lots of praise in the detailing field. I used other Meguiars polishes/compounds in the past and wasn't floored by the results. I upped my arsenal to Menzernas ceramic clearcoat polishes and was amazed. I have used nothing else until recently when I tried the 105/205 combo. These new polishes are the first from Meguiars that I have actually LOVED. I still use Menzerna PO85rd for when I want to bring HEAVY gloss to the table, but for a cutting polish the 205 is my latest go-to polish.



As for pads, I really like the Meguiars yellow foam polishing pad. I'm not a big fan of the dark red cutting pad. The yellow polishing pad is the only one I use anymore, the rest of my pads are LC.
 
I've used mostly Meguiars #83, #82, and #80. I find them to be decent, and I find them rather dusty. The 105/205 combo is worth a try?? How does Menzerna compare to Meguiars??



How do the LC pads compare to Meguiars pads?

I use the M105/205 every now and then. I prefer the Menz products such as the SIP, IP, Powergloss, and as MDX stated, the 85RD is and excellent finisher.



I like the LC pads, and have no problems with them. Some would disagree, but everyone is entitled to their opinions and their experience with certain products.
 
Plus 1 for the Menzerna Products. I have all the Meg products as well, but I reach fro Menzerna one 9/10 times when corection work it to be done. They work fast and leave unsurpassed clarity.

Meguiars #105/205 are my go-to correction polishes and 3M Ultrafina for my final polishing step. I still keep some #83 and #80 on hand for when I run into a single stage paint job.
 
I use Menzerna or Presta for paint rejuvenation. Like I said FRICTION and HEAT play a major role also. The right pad is IMPERATIVE also. Its all about using the correct pad and product with the ability to use a polisher. If the porter cable is your choice ...good luck. It does appear to work for many here. My favorite polishers are my Makita and my Hitachi they are light and very powerful.l
