which glaze: VM or #7

Which product would you prefer? Would one give a wetter/darker apperance? From what I understand, megs #7 doesn't leave any protection behind or has minor abrasives in it like vm.
 
VM, hands down because 1) it's way easier to work with, it removes easily; 2) it adds just a little more to the look on my azure blue mach1 after polishing it with pb's SSRs. i don't know how to describe it though, maybe it adds just a little bit to the wetness and depth. 3) you use way less VM than #7.



i've tried #7 on my single stage medium red mustang and i couldn't see any difference. and #7 was a PITA to work with. even though i thought i had thoroughly removed it, i got streaking after i applied some #16 over it. if anything, #81 is suppose to be a good substitute for #7.
 
I think VM really compares to #81 more than #7. #7 is considered a great glaze to be applied to a show car as the final product. It is not meant to protect and really doesn't cover as well as #81.
 
VM is by far the easiest posish i have ever worked with. (If you even consider it a polish). I tried #7 a few times, and It was a major pain in the *** to remove. VM wins hands down.



It will not do much if you have dfects though. The surface should be polished 1st with a more abrasive 1st.
 
#7 can give a nice wet look, but YES, it is a huge pain in my ***. Removal is awful, and it does streak too. I haven't tried VM, but I'll still say go with VM.
 
Never tried VM, but I used #7 once and couldn't stand it because of the streaking when trying to remove it. I definitely recommend Mothers Glaze long before #7.
 
I appreciate all of your responses. Thanks. I stopped using #7 about a year ago due to some of the same comments made. I just started using vm and I'm very impressed with the results. I was just curious as to what you all thought about both products.
 
Those of you who like #7 except for the application hassles oughta try #3 (somewhat easier) or #5 (*much* easier). But honestly, I don't end up using glazes all that much these days unless I have fresh paint.



I haven't even used my VM in nearly a year...
 
I originally bought #7 and returned it for some VM around a year ago. VM is really easy to use, cleans up paint pretty good and provides a little protection. Plus you can use it on rubber and glass. I did my dad's car a couple weeks back and only had time for a 1 step, VM really cleaned the stains he had on it and it was left with some protection.

and yet another vote for the Moose !!!



I think Megs #7 was the "cat's meow" many years ago (don't you love that phrase!) . However the stuff out today, such as Vanilla Moose, IMO, is as good or better and is much easier to use.



That being said, let me contradict myself a little by saying...I'm a big fan of Megs #16 paste wax - old product (from the 50's) but still providing superior results.
