Which era had the greatest music of all time?!

I've got a likeness for 80's hair bands...but I've always been into the 'heavier' stuff. Preferably late 80's thrash metal. I was in my youth and that music brings back lots of memories for me.

I still listen to metal/thrash/80's metal today along with much newer metal/sludgy doom rock.

My favorite bands that come to mind are:

  • The Who
  • Boston
  • Led Zeppelin
  • The Rolling Stones
  • The Doors
  • Cream
  • Aerosmith
  • Grand Funk Railroad
  • Three Dog Night
  • The Beatles
  • The Hollies
  • Simon & Garfunkel
  • Steppenwolf
  • The Byrds
  • Pink Floyd
  • The Bee Gees
  • Creedence Clearwater Revival
  • The Monkees
  • America
  • The Eagles
  • Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young

Can't go wrong with any of them. Great choice throwing CCR in there as well!

My friends and I debate about this:

if you were to live on an island for the rest of your life, no outside contact again, which album would you take with you? Or, which bands/artists albums would you take with you?

For me, it would be Led Zeppelin for entire collection, not even a question about it. For individual album, that's a lot harder, but The Wall by Pink Floyd or Physical Graffiti by Lef Zeppelin come to mind.

90's and early 2000's. Anything punk/ska related is good in my book. Bad Religion, Less Than Jake, Time Again, Chunk, Pietasters, Rise Against...etc.
