Which combination of pad and product

Got XMT #4 and a yellow pad.
Applied it to the test section and still felt that after using XMT #2 (to remove hazing) there was still some swirls.

Is the yellow pad too agressive and inducing more marring than Im trying to remove?

The XMT#2 with what pad? What buffer were you using? Did you follow any instructions?

I have never been a fan of the yellow cutting pad. To me you don't get any benefit over the orange cutting Pads which will not marr like the yellow ones will.

You should be able to clean up any swirls or marring that you might have put in with the #4/yellow pad combo using the XMT #2 and a white polishing pad.

My guess is you probably didn't buff long enough with the #4 to break it down.

Orange is less abrasive than yellow correct?

Yes I used a white pad on a PC 7424 for XMT #2.

I am going to try an orange pad and one slightly smaller and see if that works for me..

I am letting it break down untill its clear/dry for me...Is this correct?

Is there any risk of paint damage if I am still working in the polish after it's broken down?

normally when the polish begins to dust it is broken down all the way or has dried out and at this point you should check the results under some good lighting. I would think that polishing with a dried out raw pad could do some damage..

Yes.

Yes. Buffing until the product is clear is important and with some products it won't go clear until it dries out.

No, not unless you are being overly aggressive with an aggressive pad for an extended period of time.

Your goal is to get your polish clear which is evidence that it has broken down. Any buffing after that is not going to be fruitful and could be counter productive.
