Which Collinite is best....

Who opened this can of worms!? If you search my name I was involved with a post on this very subject. A few of us actually talked with Collinite and got very different answers. So after all that I'm still out on which is better! Goodluck

I bought my 845 from them. It's the only Collonite I've tried so far. Given most of the conversation around Collonite centers on durability I wasn't expecting much in the looks department. I was quite surprised to find 845 excels in the looks category. It gave my car a nice wet, deep, reflective shine. Plus, it made the flake in my paint pop nicely.

I've tried numerous Collinite products. The only one I've repeat purchased is the IW, which has been around for years and is the product that put them on the map.

Maybe I'll do 885 on one half and 476 on the other half and see if I can tell the difference.

I've been playing around with 845 this last week, man does it layer easily. I put about six layers on dark green metallic, its to the point where you can hardly tell what color the paint is due to the depth. Great stuff for the $$$
 
I used 845 on my chrome rims and aplied to much (like I usually do) and it was a bear to get off. Had to use a QD to help remove but the rims look nice!
 
I use both 476S and 845, and they are both great waxes for looks and durability. If I had to pick one, I would take the 476S. On my cars, 476S produces a better look (depth and shine). I apply with a blue propel pad via PC, and VERRRRY thin, which makes removal a breeze.



I have been using AW for a while now, and it is great on top of 476S. This is now my year around combination. 476S every 3 months or so, with AW after every wash.

According to the rep I talked with at Collinite a couple of years back, 885 and 476S are the same wax, just in different tins (885 is also available in a 12 oz tin in case you don't need 8 lbs ;) ).



The 915 is a bit different (I think a little more carnauba) and carries a higher price tag. It would be interesting to see a test between the 476S/885 and the 915 in both looks and durability.

John, try 915 and 885/476 side by side. Trying 885 and 476 is pointless because they are the same in different cans. 915 contains some fragrance too. But I'd be curious how they look side by side.



Gilmour sent me a foamgun. My pal brought me #26 and Z8 in August when he spent his vacation here.
 
I really like 845, especially on my metallic silver. Gives just unreal range and wetness to it, while giving great flake pop. I don't really think that it layers(due to the solvents), but at 5-6 months with one application, I am not complaining.
