Which Collinite do you/would you use?

And yeah, it's funny how 845 does/doesn't last for some people (or rather, in some situations). When I tested it (pretty carefully, resonable controls, etc.) it wasn't anything special, but it's holding up *GREAT* on my beater-Audi. Different vehciles, but identical prep/care/etc. :nixweiss

It may be the effect of the same warp in the space-time continuum that has affected the Browns since 1964. A mere 100+ miles away the longevity is markedly increased. I think they use 845 on those black helmets and the Browns use Nu Finish or Turtle Wax.

I only have experience with one of these...#915 was recommended to me for its blend of excellent durability and and really nice looks. I have been very happy with it on my black and dark purple cars. The only times I have had difficulty with it is when I have used too much of it.



Recently, I have been using Autoglym HD but ONLY because I do not like the way road grime sticks to the #915. If it were as slick as the AGHD I would never use anything else...



Slightly off topic, I have a hard time removing the gassing "fog" that appears after I apply either of these products. I usually have to wait about a week before I can wash after waxing, and it takes a couple of Z-6 wipe downs to make it look mostly right.

I suspect the durability of 845 or any waxes, is related to the layer beneath the 845.

The layer of polish or whatever stuff below 845 COULD affect 845's durability.



I am now re-testing:

1. 845 on 100% free and polish-free surface (MPC'ed and IPA'ed)

2. 845 on top of finishing polish (MenzPO85RD)

3. 845 on top of Klasse AIO.



At the end of this month, I'll post my observations.

I often use something like Consumer Line 1Z Polishes (that leave wax/etc. behind) under 845 and it's never made any diff compared to having a "bare" surface :nixweiss

Just finished a detail job and put 845 IW on top of Optimum's Poli-Seal.

This was my first time using Poli-Seal. I was pretty impressed. I used it as a follow up to m105 w/cyan pad, using the tangerine hyrdo-tech pad with the Poli-Seal. It left a very nice glossy and smooth finish, and it removed all of the minor hazing left by the m105.



The 845 IW looked great on this light gray paint. The owners told me that the car looked like it changed color. I love when I hear comments like that without any solicitation/leading questions. I thought the same thing.

I enjoy using Poli-seal as well, as it cleans the surface really nice and does leave a great looking finish. I have had great success topping it with 845 as well.



To the OP, I have 915, 845, and 476. I love using 845 in the spray bottle. I can wax my entire vehicle faster than I can wash it. I love the look of 915 as well, but 845 is so easy to use and I find myself re-applying after every few washes.

I strongly agree with you that 845IW looks great on light grey. It really does.



On a well-prepped grey, 845 gives that "hybrid" look. It has a very slight carnauba'ish look making the colour look a bit more sophisticated but not that much darker, while it "brightens" up the colour with a sealant-like reflectiveness. I just finished up a Merc SL350 (Cubinite Silver) today with 845IW, and the owner is so impressed, he has booked my time for 2 more MPVs on Sat and Sun!

I'm really glad that I gave 845 IW another chance after my less than stellar initial experience with it about 9 months ago on single stage yellow paint. I'm really liking this stuff!
