Which brands/companies do you TRUST?

Hi all,it's been a while since I started a thread like this (or like any other, for that matter) as I've been busy just enjoying the plethora (over abundance?) of detailing supplies that grace (clutter?) my shelves in the garage. I got bit hard by the detailing bug and wanted to get my hands on EVERYTHING, old and new, to find that perfect product for my finish. It's kinda funny how I went full bore from Zaino, to die hard carnauba, and now enjoying both on different vehicles.

Anyways, I have kind of entered this less is more state of mind recently with my supplies and realized I really only need/want two or three brands gracing my shelves to have all I need and be happy with it.

1. Zaino. I know, believe me, I know. But I TRUST Sal to bring only the best in synthetic polymer protection to the market. I trust his sealants, quick detail sprays, car wash, AIO, leather care, abrasive polish, all of it. I have NO hesitation in using Zaino on any finish, any time, on any car, and I recommend it without a second thought to anyone looking to upgrade from OTC. I can grab any bottle with a Z on it and have complete confidence in its ability to perform safely and effectively.

2. Griot's. I know I'm in the VAST minority with this one, any maybe it's just Richard's cheesy, yet effective, hyperbole, but I really like Griot's products. Not their overpriced brushes, wash mitts, cabinets, and Window Masters. Rather, their car wash, wheel cleaner, tire dressing, leather care, SPEED SHINE, spray on wax, interior cleaner, and several others. There had been talk/rumors that Griot's outsourced a lot of Meg's products in the past. I personally don't see it, and Richard Griot has stated that they develop, test, perfect, bottle and package and ship all their products on site, which I tend to believe as I haven't found other similar products with regards to their detailing supplies. I had previously condemned Best of Show Wax, but I actually rather enjoy it now that I've learned to use it properly. It's still no Souveran, but it's kind of a fun wax to use for something different, and again, I trust it's design, ingredients, and results, just like the other Griot's products I mentioned.

These are the two brands that I never find myself thinking, hmmm, self, I wonder how much silicone, or alcohol, or bug juice is in this bottle. I am 100% comfortable and confident using products from both.

I am in no way saying other products are inferior. For example, I love Meg's NXT car wash, Sonus SwirlBuster/detail sprays, Mother's carnauba wax, Poorboy's SS&S, Prima Slick, a lot of 1Z products, etc. This is just a personal, mental thing that I have come to realize and wondered if anyone else has simliar feelings, or if you just use what's within arms reach without giving it a second thought.

Trust? Trust nobody. Best advice I've ever gotten off a bumper sticker. Saved my life, too.

Optimist I see :chuckle: I don't trust Sal with my life, but I trust his products to deliver.

Yea I don't really "trust" companies per say because I've found flaws in every companies products I've tried. I however do trust products. Like I looove Meg's Marine line But not to fond of their automotive line, Not a big fan of Durogloss either. However they do have some products in that line that are top notch. Others that just don't work worth a crap either. Mothers is the same way except they have fewer good picks than bad. So it's defiantly not a company I trust. Because I've yet to see a company where all their products are just top notch and a good value.

I try not to trust any products based on the company and evaluate each one individually. I like many of Zaino's products but there are a few I think are not worth the price of admission.

I have a lot of trust in optimum, have yet to use a bad product from them although I have not tried their tire shine.

I used to trust autogeek, then I became eduacted. I think their items are a total rip-off now, look at pinnacle clay lube $10 a bottle... I can make ONR clay lube thats just as good for less money, or use fk 425 as an amazing clay lube for STILL less money...

Oh yea, and I trust chemical guys for microfiber, best I have ever used (although I wanna try that danase phat towel).

Having used much of the Zaino line, I feel all its products deliver and thus I'd consider them a go to (which is as close to trust as I guess I can offer car products). Megs, CG, etc. are all fantastic lines but in one manner or another have lost that "gold aura" of reliability.

I don't know if you would call it a trust issue, but basically every company claims the same thing to a point. Most companies calim their products deliver the best shine/gloss, are easy to use, etc....

BlackSunshine, don't worry about being in the minority using Griot's. If the products work for you, and you're happy with the results, then it doesn't matter. Like you, I only use one or two manufacturers products.

I agree with this.

I don't "trust" companies like Pinnacle, Wolfgang, etc. (the Autogeek stuff, basically) because they try to sell you on $10 a bottle (16 oz.) clay lube when I can buy Meguiars Last Touch for clay lube when it goes for $17 a gallon and it dilutes 1:1 with water. Now I'm sure the Pinnacle stuff works fine, but I mean come on, how much better can it possibly be?

I used to believe all AG's hype, thinking that a $20 bottle of tire dressing would be some magic elixer that was really worth the extra money.

I "trust" companies like Optimum, or the Meguiar's Detailer Line or the Menzerna polishes because I know I'm not getting ripped off and I get products that perform, plain and simple.

Yo Poppa, I agree 100% on the AG stuff, I mean they work, I used Wolfgang and XMT but for the money, JEEZ! Lately I found all my detailing supplies at a local supply - Majestic Solutions, their products are made by Chemical Guys (I'm pretty sure) but they're cheap, work great and they also sell Malco products , which I tried one of their compounds and found it to be better than anything I've tried so far.

Aussie Gold products (best polishes in southern hemisphere)

Barry is always improving his formula's and the showroom glaze is better than any other QD on the planet. Protects for six months, machine applyable, extends polish working time, stops dusting and improves lustre.

menzerna - can be tricky for new players but is no doubt the best

Sonus - SFX polishes and tire gel are world class

Prima - what a killer line up. The DP team are the best people

Einszett, Driven to Perfection, G Techniq and Omikron

Re: AG stuff brands like Pinnacle, DP & Wolfgang.

They definitely are expensive and aggressively hyped, but I cannot say that I have EVER been disappointed in their product. So in that sense I trust them..

I think all companies hype their products. I don't trust a lot of claims a company makes. Claims of durability I take to be optimistic, deceptive or a straight out lie. Then there is the use of words that imply something absolutely. Things like

"stains disappear and never return", "the best product out there", "our product is perfect". Some products I have never tried because I interpret the companies description as "magic in a bottle".

For the most part I have good results with 3m and meguiars products. Therefore I have never really tried much else. However I just placed an order for some menzerna stuff, as their products have been peaking my interest.
