which backing plate?

hi, I'm purchasing a Porter cable 7424 6" Variable-Speed Random-Orbit Polisher

and was wondering which backing plate to use if I'm going to be using Dual-Action 6.5" Foam Pads from lake country, should I use a 6" backing plate (http://www.autogeek.net/duflbapl6.html) or a 5" (http://www.autogeek.net/lc43125.html) , any help would be greatly appreciated :help:

I have both backing plates and feel a 5" plate works better with 6.5 foam pad.

I find the 5" gives more flexibilty.

I'd go with the 6" BP............Youll find the pads are less stressed, you get better torque on the exterior perimeter of the pad as well. if your comfortable with the PC, the 6" is great. If you need some additional safety margin, then the 5" would be best.

Just a thought, how about no backing plate? The Edge 2K system with their adapter, I really like this set up.
