Where to seat your clients when working on their cars?

To those that operate at home in their garage, where do you seat your clients? I don't suppose you allow them to go wander inside your home or let them surf on your computers.



What do you do if a client is bringing his family over to have his car detailed, but will be staying until it is finished?



Just curious.
 
I have a big screen tv and a table and wireless. If anyone needs anything other than that, they are not human lol.

I never really had someone want to sit threw a detail. I work from my house and ussaly they just drop the car off.
 
The only people I've ever had wait is friends who just want to hang out and b.s. in the garage. Everyone else just leaves and comes back later.
 
lol... I personally wouldn't sit through the whole four hours. But hey... there are weird people!



Here's the deal. Someone from another forum just bought a brand new car that he wants me to apply some boutique wax on after seeing my cars in person. No polishing or clay, just Wolfgang sealant and wax because the car has just been picked up today. He will be coming with his entire family on Sunday.



I am not sure if I want them inside my house, but I don't know what to do.

Tell them they can sit on your lap and detail in speedos. I'm sure they'll leave.
 
The only person I've ever had actually sit through the whole detail was Gianni D on here LOL. It was cool though we had a lot in common and talked shop and everything else in between. really passionate guy to know. other than that people drop it off and leave.

They'd need to start paying my mortage if they stuck around for as long as I usually have their cars. :har: Many times I keep cars for 6-7 days at a time. I like taking my time fiddling with them throughout the week and them hit them hard on the weekend.
 
no one waits around! I have cars dropped off on occasion, but the owner either gets picked up or walks down to the pier or something...aka, no sitting around!



I would tell that person you would be more than happy to go mobile for them! Load your stuff up and get more notice from THEIR neighbors, instead of the usual YOUR neighbors

Those are my favorite details. The ones you can do at your leisure and not feel rushed.



Usually what I try and do is get them to drop it off on a Friday evening so I can work on it Friday night and early Saturday morning. I'm an early bird so it's nice to get out and start working at 7:30 instead of waiting for the owner to drop off the car at like noon.

Well its what YOU want to do, but keep in mind that if you let them in with thier entire family, you are setting the standard for further visits. I had this lady that was extremely knit picky with her van (i'm sure others can relate) she insisted on staying while I did her interior, she had alot of stains on the carpet that isn't unusual for soccer moms. So I said it was fine, she could. I didn't know she ment her and her children. She refused to wait in the office and wanted to stay in the shop. Her kids followed her. They were running around the shop playing with my stuff jumping around everywhere. It took longer than usual because that root beer was stuck like glue. I told her if next time I would rather pick up the vehicle and drop it back off than to have her waiting. They drove me nuts.
