Where to find wetsanding materials in Los Angeles?

Hey guys, I have a client this week who, along with a detail, wants me to flatten out some touch up paint he's put into a key scratch. From what I've read on this Autopia article:



Repairing Chips & Scratches



I'll need some 1500grit sand paper, and was curious where I could purchase this stuff in LA? I've been to the local Pep Boys, they don't seem to have any sanding paper. Any ideas?
 
I'd go to CG and see what they suggest. They are located in Inglewood on Century blvd right across from Hollywood Park.
 
I'm going to call Paul today regarding that... but every time I've been there I haven't seen any wet sanding paper? I was curious if maybe theres a Kragen or Napa auto parts around here that may happen to carry it?
 
Any hardware store. Home depot lowes etc etc. There's no such thing as specifically automotive sandpaper. Any sandpaper will do. Get yourself a few grits. I have 1000 grit up to 2500 grit here at the shop. When I run out I just head to gilroys or home depot to restock.
 
Both murrays and advanced auto parts stores near me carry that fine of a sandpaper. I'd doubt that Home Depot or Lowes would carry a grade that high as most home improvement projects dont require anything past 600. You could always call an auto body shop and see if they'd be so kind as to sell you a few sheets of each grade. I'm sure a quality place would have some.

D'oh me, I paid attention to post but not to thread title. So, Danforz, you are in my area. I will PM you my cell phone and I might have some paper for you.

Might as well finish your search and get some paper anyway. Who knows if someone else asks you to wetsand something for them.
 
Personally i would probably have taken LT to remove the paint and then reapply, as carefully as possible. The problem i have found is, you will sand the surrounding paint too much and still find it hard to remove all the paint. Running the risk of sanding through the clear.



I have done it, with a good outcome, but more times where i had to stop and do as stated above. Then you could try Lanka or such to remove excess.



Hard to make it perfect. If he wants it perfect, tell him to respray the panel or check out someone like Paintbull.
