When You Are Detailing...You Listen To?

Beemerboy

Just One More Coat
In my efforts to come up with something about detailing while its cold and wet outside:D

I work in my house garage...and have a cheap radio...its tuned to the local country western station...they do a good job of playing the new stuff coming out...I also enjoy on Sat and Sun early starts there is a station that is talk radio and he takes calls from the locals that are having garage sales...his questions to the people that call in are totally a crack up...Sundays the same thing but its all from fundraisers...same drill of questions..

It doesn't matter in most cases to me once I set into a detail what's on...I just like the back ground noise...in fact sometimes I stop paying attention...then when I do...its a static and you can't even hear the music anymore:D

OK what's your thing?

Beemer, I listen to a lot of church music. I like mass choirs, and a little southern gospel.

I listen to certain talk shows depending on the time of day. Other than that I'll listen to random music or work quitely

Each morning I pray for strength and guidance to overcome each days situations and for guidance on how to be the man that god intended me to be but with all of the stresses and responsibilities of each day it is often hard to hear the answers. I normaly detail in quiet and when I get in "the zone" that is usually when I get the gift of inspiration. Other days I am not so spiritually fit so I listen to rock and roll on the local classic rock station.

I have music on my phone I listened to sometimes with headphones. It's nice because I can still hear the phone ring. Most of the time though I prefer nothing but the sound of my work and the nature around me.

I always was a loud music player with a big bad stereo, but since family life has set in. I prefer peace and quiet most of the time.

As far as the type of music. I'm a big Third Day fan. Mercy Me, Jeremy Camp, and a lot of oldies rock n roll. It hurt when my rock n roll became "oldies".

Local country music station. On a stereo system thats probably 8 yes old. Nic, nice sound. (it was there from when my father in law was in the shop doing wood working and ashing cars). Sometimes the wife turns on the tv. That is just background noise after a while unless Im taking a break.

For me it really depends on the mood. Sometimes classic rock sometime alternative rock and sometimes just the sounds of nature if I'm detailing away from the shop.

When I detail I use my blue tooth head phones and leave my MP3 player in the car so I don't have to worry about cords. My mp3 player is set on random so it could be clutch for one song then Tom Jones then Muddy Waters

I have a 20 year old Yamaha Receiver in the garage with some old Sony speakers that still work. I like 70's rock and punk. At 52 I still like it loud, maybe because I can't hear as well? If it's too loud, your too old!

Depends on many things. What was on when the tuner was shut off last time, if I have any CDs laying around, or if a customer is present. Radio stations I'll listen to range from classical to classic rock, country, blues, or standards. I'll even do a talk show if it's about something interesting, not politics.
And sometimes, as some of y'all do, nothing at all.

Dave you've left me speechless .... and that's hard to do :idea

I'm a bit more traditional (read hymns) in my inspirational music tastes, but I Can Only Imagine by Mercy Me is one of the greatest songs ever.

Don't worry, in another decade or so, you'll be like me and all of your rock songs will be oldies. But that is alright too, because they will also still be goodies.

My garage radio is tuned to Dallas Cowboys football, during the season, otherwise I'm normally tuned to a local "Top 40" C&W station. Which reminds me of that great Blues Brothers movie line...

"What kind of music do you usually have here?"
"Oh, we got both kinds. We got country and western..."

I listen to Bubba the Love Sponge in the morning till 10am M-F and after that I just listen to whatever is on my 8gb Zune. My detailing music of choice is 80's and 90's hair bands, Motley Crue, Guns N Roses, etc.

I have about 10 gigs of music on my iPhone that I listen to randomly via headphones that have a mic built in them. If someone calls it kills the music and I don't miss any calls.
And some times I listen to nothing.

Classical but once in a while ATC (air traffic control). On Sundays, I will listen to oldies (Beatles Brunch) in the am.

I have speakers hardwired in my garage, I always have music on. Here are a few groups that always get played while I'm detailing.

Grateful Dead
Steely Dan
Little Feat
Slightly Stoopid

The list goes on and on....
