When vinegar isn't enough?

I recently went on a two week road trip and left my car in the drive way. Apparently a sprinkler was directly on it the whole time. When i got back, the whole left side has really bad water streaks(thats right, streaks, not spots). They look horrible. It's on the windows and everything. I can't almost feel the texture of it on the windows. I tried vinegar after washing which has worked in the past but it had no effect at all. I've heard a couple different solutions, and i was just looking for some more input. Thank you.
 
Looking for more info on this as well, though my water spots don't sound quite as bad as your situation. I'm sure that some members will know what will do the trick!
 
For the glass I just recieved some Zaino Z-12 Glass Polish. Works great in taking out water spotting/light etching. As for the paint, your prob gonna have to run a polish or something on it. Depending on how bad it is will determine your prodcut/pad combo.
 
So is that spot x stuff for windows only? And from the sound of it, picking up a polisher/buffer would be my best bet. Or having someone do it proffesionally.



I just went out and used about half a bottle of meguiar's nxt gen window wash and it started to come off the window. So something like the spot x stuff should work. What are some that will be paint safe as well?
 
For widowns polishing can be hard to get in corners, so I usually opt for Pro Products' water spot remover (an acidic gel); this is a must for mirrors, as you CANNOT polish mirrors. For paint, just machine polish with your favorite polish or compound.
 
For hard water spots that vinager wont take off I use a polishing pad my Porter Cable 7424 and AutoGlym Glass Polish and it takes them right out.



For the paint you will have to polish the spots out.
 
Clay? That would be my first approach.



Any highly acidic product (vinegar on steroids) ought to work. Here, we'd try ValuGard's "Product B", Akaline Neutralizer. Dwell time of up to 10 minutes is an important consideration for any of these acidic prducts; keep it wet.

Yea, i did wash the car first. and then i dried it. Then i tried the vingegar. This is the same process that has worked before to get normal water spots out.
 
For the windows Mr. Clean Magic Eraser with distilled white vinegar or a good glass cleaner will absolutely work. I've never seen it fail and it gets the glass super clean.



Not for use on the paint though! ALthough I guess you could use it on the paint as it would be no different than using fine grit paper I guess. Of course you'll have to buff it all out afterwards. Maybe someone here has tried this and can help?
