Anyone use a product like a wheel and rim cleaner to clean their wheel wells. Is this type of product too strong for this, and should you wash it off pretty quick?

I used to do that but I quit. The wheel cleaners I have are either too strong (for the cars with nicely detailed wells) or too expensive compared to APCs (for the cars that I use strong cleaners on at every wash). I wouldn't use a really harsh or acidic wheel cleaner for this BTW.

An APC will work fine for wheel wells. That is all I use. Then dress them with your favorite dressing.
The Castrol APC with a bathroom brush cleans wells well. On wells with little clearance with the tire, insert the brush from the bottom back of the tire area and bring it up.
Spritz with h20 then spritz with AA.
The long handle of the bathroom brush combined with the slight angle of the brush compared to the handle makes it ideal for well cleaning. Dirt cheap too.
