Wheel Wax

Never heard of it before. I've been using AIO and it works pretty well. However, I wouldn't mind trying out a product that can be applied as a paste. AIO can be finnicky on wheels sometimes.

*Edit*

\/ I wish ;)

I use it all the time. Leaves a nice shine on the wheels and is a pretty good cleaner too, took all the little black specs off that wouldn't come out with anything else I tried. Here's a pic, Wheel Wax on wheel and Turtle Wax Tire Wax on tire.

Never tried #16 on my wheels and for the first time tired SG (just yesterday) so I can't really say which works better So far I'm not really sure which I like better. The SG give the wheels kind of a plastic wrap look that I'm not really sure if I like or no yet.

I use AIO/SG on my wheels as a prep for spring then add SG a couple times a season .. works really well .. I don't think #16 is going to hold up to the heat generated by the brakes ..

If I didn't have the SG or Zaino I'd be back to the Nu-Finish on the wheels .. little less gloss but lasts a long time .. low $$ too.

I got a half can of Wheel Wax from mosca to try a few weeks ago. Due to the horrible weather here (and more rain for tomorrow and Tuesday  ), I have only used it on my customer's Rolls and my own car. It does a pretty good job of cleaning and shining the wheels, on both my car and the Rolls, the wheels had noticably more gloss and gunk stuck to the wheels came off pretty easily. It seems to work as well as the regular (brown) Moose Wax I have been using on wheels. It definitely smells better!

Anyway, I don't really know if it cuts down on brake dust, my car has ceramic pads so I don't get much dusting anyway and the Rolls had two weeks of grime all over the car from the damn rain when I washed it last. I need a couple dry weeks to see how it does with brake dust.

Guys,

Apparenly the advantage of using this product is that it cleans and protects in one step. It sounds like you rub it on dirty wheels and rub off.

Most people agree that car soap will clean the wheels. When they are real bad a true polish like mothers will probably do a better job than anything that is a cleaner/protectant. But hey, never can have too many car care products around.

I have owned two jars of this stuff. The product seperated in both jars before I even used a quater of it. It gets a big:down for shelf life. It was very user freindly, easy on and off, smelled great, cleaned well, left a great shine, and was very slick. I can't really comment on durability because I apply protection so often to my wheels it never gets a chance to wear off.

Maybe I just got unlucky with the seperation problem. Other than that it's a good product. The thing is I can get the same results with products I already have. Megs #20, Klasse AIO & SG, Mothers Clear Coat Wheel Polish, and my current favorite Collinite Insulator Wax. If your wheels are clear coated just use the same products that work on your paint.

I hope its washed dirty wheels or your marring the hell out of them.

stevet. surprised to hear that your two jar's separated! My jar is just about a year old now and I hjaven't seen any signs of separation. Maybe I should check it as soon as I get home.

Pass on Wheel Wax! Like most one-step products, you don't get the results you really want.

I bought it and used it once. It cleaned the wheels, but it is messy and expensive, and did not do as well as a good wheel cleaner. And the wheels got dirty again pretty quickly.

Now I use Z2 with Z6 QD. Wheels look great and attract little dust. Every day or so, I use a Swiffer Duster (gently) to remove what little dust sticks to the wheels.

Weekly, I wash the wheels with Z7 as part of my weekly washing routine. Then, I buff with Z6 QD - including both the paint and wheels.

Here's my current application regimen:

1) Clean wheels with a good wheel cleaner. Blackfire worked pretty well for me, but it's expensive. I picked up a bottle of Eagle 1 to see if it works. (I'm open to suggestions.)

2) Rinse well and then wash with Zaino Z7 car wash. If I'm applying Z2 or Z5 to the paint, I simply spend extra time getting the wheels nice and clean with Z7.

3.) Apply Z2 (X2). Buff with Z6 in between each coat and as the final "topping".

That's it. Not a big production and the wheels look great.

Regards,

Dan.

When it's new it looks like pudding. When it seperated it looked like cottage cheese.

It was never exposed to freezing temps or high heat. Always stored it at room temp.:nixweiss

Haha! Mine too. First it smelled awesome, and when it turned to cottage cheese it smelled gnarly.

Just give it vigorous shake and it'll turn back to pudding :p

As far as it goes, I would NEVER use it on dirty wheels. First, obviously clean them and then use the Wheel Wax.

It's not bad as far as clearing up any haze or micro scratches. It leaves a nice shine and the wheels feel slick.

However, it doesn't last very long. Also remember, ANY wheel cleaner that is used AFTER you wax your wheels with ANY wax will REMOVE that wax - regardless of what it is.

If you want durability to witjstand the serious heat buildup, use a coat of AIO topped with Collinite Insulator Wax. NOTHING beats that combo. Just clean your wheels with car wash soap and it'll last a long time.

I like to spray a MF with Eagle One WAUD and wipe down the freshly rinsed wheel to spruce it up.

As far as Wheel Wax, stick to AIO or #20 or whatever sealant / wax you have on hand. It ain't worth the money.

But, try that AIO + IW combo :xyxthumbs I swear by it.
