Wheel protection ?

Every time I clean my wheels (and there is a LOT of dust.... especially after a track-day, ), I use MC2 wheel cleaner.

It's an orange based degreaser and it works pretty well.

No chemical residu, discolourisation or ruined finish.

But it will strip off the wax, so what's best used to protect the finish off the wheels then ?

AIO/SG and Zaino are popular here,they can withstand the heat better than most conventional waxes and make cleaning a whole lot easier.

There is a shop here that sells Meguiars (only selected products, ), but I think I can talk to the shop owner to order something special. Is there a Mequiars products for waxing wheels that can withstand wheel cleaner longer than regular "car-paint wax" (I use normal Swissol stuff)

Meguiars #20 should last a long time given you have cleaned and polished the wheels first(just give them some elbow grease with a paint cleaner, and you should be fine). They keep the brake dust on my rims fresh so only car soap is needed to wash it away.

Wax will not protect your wheels, the hot brake dust will melt the wax when it touches the wheel.



Any alternative to the Meguairs is Autoglym Resin & Gloss.

A sealant is best either layered or not and following with a synthetic wax may help for a little while



Poorboys 1, Wolfgang 2 coats is one of my favourites, a synthetic wax will help also for a little while.

Klasse twins are another, I have not tryed omikron bodyseal or WC supa seal yet but they should do a good job
