Wheel protection

Hello People I was wondering what would be a good sealant or wax to put on any type of wheel. I know wheel protection doesn't last long, but what would make it shine and pop. I seen this products:

Chemical guys Wheel guard

Detailer pride wheel glaze

Wheel wax

Poorboys wheel sealant

But don't know which one to get or which is good

I have the Pb's Wheel Sealant...I dunno how much difference I can tell on a wheel as far as shine, I'd say similar longevity, but I haven't done a side-by-side or back-to-back. The IW is a little easier to apply, tho. Darn, that avatar is distracting!

I was thinking of making a thread like this earlier today. I think instead of buying another wax just for wheels, ill use IW845. I use Wolfgang Deep Gloss PS, P21S, Megs 26 and IW845 and Aquawax. Im just a weekend warrior/part time and I dont need another product.

Another one you might want to consider is Collinite IW.

+1.. this really rocks on rims... after you apply it for future washes just hit it with water and brake dust/dirt rolls right off.. nearly no chemicals needed. Very cost effective as well!

+1 for Opti-Seal... Have also used Ultima PGP on wheels.... as well as both in combination, layered w/ each other. In my opinion, OS alone or in combo w/ PGP is the most long lasting solution I've tried.

I put some Ultima TTGP on a 200k mile Acura Legend wheel today. It took many years of appearance off the wheel. Enough so that the owner notices without me saying anything. I was trying to do it on the sly.:) I will report back what the durability is like as I see the car every week.

Any LSP will work, some better than others. I use Z2, OS + OPS, CS + ZAIO, PB Wheel Sealant.

They all work well, PB is the cheapest and doesnt last as long, BUT, I really like it.

PB Wheel Sealant is on sale @ Danase for $12-13 + Autopia Discount.

Er.. We're already giving you suggestions... But you seem partial WheelWax or Poorboy's Wheel Sealant, so that's completely up to you.

Yea NSXTASY is right. You can use any wax that you would use on the paint. Durable protection used on the paint includes Zaino, Ultima, Duragloss 105, Collinite 845/476S. All these products will provide a pretty good shine, but more importantly, very good durability.

BTW, it's not really true to say that wheel protection doesn't last long. I find that my LSP's actually last longer on my wheels than they do on my paint.

+1 for PB Wheel Sealant. I've been using it on my uncoated aluminum wheels for the past 2 years. Three coats last me a little over 2 months before I start seeing signs of oxidation.

I did try Zaino before I started using PB and 2 coats only lasted 4 wks before oxidation started setting in.

Here is a recent shot of them.
