Wheel polishing

Can you smooth out plastic covered aluminum wheels. What I am asking can the plastic coating be buffed up with any good results? If yes what is the product needed and what type pad?? Have a set of wheels that are factory plastic coated and are stained. This said not etched just some slight water like marks in the plastic coating.:inspector:

I'm not familiar with the plastic covered wheel. But, I don't see you being able to effectively remove a "layer" of a plastic coating.

That's not what I want to do at all. I want to know if you can simply buff up the clear and smooth it out?

Anyone ever done this?

MR. Clean thanks for the response I am sure I was not explaining myself well enough.:D

I was able to clean up the wheel covers on my wife's Accord with a fine polish and some 4" pads - it got some of the smaller scrapes out. I decided against trying to work on the 'rougher' stuff with more a aggressive combo, since she will just scratch them up again.

Bill you can use Professional Polish with a buffing ball or by hand, but the buffing ball will be faster... if by hand use a cotton rag ;)

Now that's nice work right there, Thanks for the guidance here guys...:D :howdy

are you guys referring to hubcaps? if so any light cleaner polish should do. I have cleaned them up real well, but only removing those light scratches left by car wash brushes. Curb scratches I don't think you will be able to fix.
