Wheel Cleaning Products

I got some beautiful CCW wheels that I'm finding surprisingly hard to keep clean.

After reading alot of watchouts about wheel cleaners I wanted to ask you guys (and girls) about two products that I have picked up.

Black Magic Titanium Wheel Cleaner

Meguiars quick Wheel Detailer

Anybody have any thoughts on using these on my wheels (construction details about my wheels are listed below)

1 Piece forging

6061-T6 Aluminum

CNC Machined

I dont think Id ever use a QD on wheels with all the crud that gets stuck to them. Ive never used Black Magic stuff, what does the directions say? If it says something like dont leave on for more then 30 sec. then I wouldnt use it at all.

I HIGHLY suggest P21S Gel wheel cleaner.

Do NOT put anything on those wheels that is high alkiline content. Which will eliminate most "wheel cleaners" out there you can buy OTC. It will eat through your clear coat before you can rinse it off. The only thing I will ever put on any sort of aftermarket rim is a citrus degreaser mixed 3 parts water 1 part degreaser at the most. then it's alot of hand rubbing and detail brushes.

I coat my wheels w Jetseal, then I apply DP wheel glaze or PB wheel sealant.

Twice a week Ill wipe it down with some Aquawax, it works great, dust comes off like nothing.

During washes the dust just sprays off with water!

If your wheels are really dirty use the PS21 wheel gel, make sure you get the gel as I find the standard PS21 wheel cleaner to be on the weak side.

Wash your wheels after they have cooled down, not after a 2 hour commute. Spray water on them before adding any cleaner and rinse well after scrubbing.

a good wheel cleaner like p21s gel is good, the gel keeps it on the rim longer! :) I like that stuff as well as some stuff I can get locally

Since I have sealed mine I can get by with just car wash soap or ONR QD. If really dirty I use either a minor PB APC mix or P21S.

I use amazing roll of diluted (1:1), non acidic safe, easy, and powerful as you will se in the below before/after pics..

I use it for engine bays, wheels, wells and even for stubborn trim stains that WILL NOT COME OUT

Process:

High pressure water rinse

Spray on ARO

Wait 4 minutes

agitate

rinse off

wipe with mf

Keep in mind these are RAW polished aluminum!

Fikse recommends diluted Simple Green on theirs. I've used it on raw aluminum with success and it does turn general grime loose. Just spray, wash and rinse. Don't let any cleaner sit too long on them.

Once you get them clean AND polished (Adams 1, 2 works outstanding) then put some kind of sealant/protectant on them.

Ive heard that meguiars Quik Wheel Detailer is great for a day to day based cleaning. I would treat that about like I would QDing the paint. If alot of brake dust has built up on the rims then I would just wash them.

I use Organic and Ceramic pads so I do not have any brake dust.
