Wheel Cleaner Question

Well I still havent found the right wheel cleaner to get the last part of the baked on brake dust and road grime off the inside lip of my wheels. Once I clean them the majority of the wheel is sportless but there is parts or patchs with braked on stains or dust its not the clear coat but its just road grime. Brushing is hard in those area's even when touching it with your fingers its hard to get the spots off. I just find it as a real annoying to have everything perfect but have spots of grime on the insides of the wheels.

I tried A2Z, P21S, APC+ 1:1, Citri Gel... I was thinking TOL Wheel Wash or the new Poorboys Wheel cleaner but im not sure.

Is there any true spray and rinse non-acidic wheel cleaners out there.?

I can pick up some acid based cleaners but I dont partciularly like to work with stuff that dangerous to your health.
 
Try either. Both are safe from what I hear, even though PB is slightly acidic (i think, do a search) Wheel Cleaner Power is so cheap and worthwhile I hear. I wanna try out AutoMagic's Rim Cleaner or Detailer's Pride... :D
 
Question: Are you guys taking off your wheels to take them, or using a brush to get all the way inside the wheel?

So far, since my car is new, I've only been going 2-3" inside from the exterior wheel/tire edge, you know, the visible part when you glance at the wheels.

I know you can use a wheel brush to go deeper, but so far I haven't used one.
 
The key is to get them perfect without takeing them off. Thats why I keep trying different methods and cleaners. Easiest way is to spray with an acid based cleaner and pressure wash and the calipers, disc, and rim come out perfectly clean but acidic cleaners arnt always good on the wheels. And definently not good for your health.
 
Well, Ive tried many wheel cleaners and nothing comes close to the new Poorboys one for raw cleaning power. Its way too strong to use for regular cleaning (its really not necessary for that type of task). But, I love to use it to get into places I can't reach like the inside of the wheel or the lug nuts. It truely can be sprayed on and rinsed off with excellant results. I would say that it takes of 90 precent of the dirt and break dust by just spraying on and rinsing off...add in a little agitation with a brush and there is virtually nothing it won't remove. I can't recommend this product strongly enough...the only thing is it is acidic and definately don't breath it in...but for the right task nothing can beat it
 
I will check it out, Acids are fine as long as its not hydroflouric acid. How much is this poorboys stuff for 1 gallon. ??
 
Got this wheel cleaner to try from a friend that works at a dealer today.

I will try it on both of these wheels not sure if the product is acid based. It looks to be a wheel brightner. Are MAG Cleaners usally acid based. ?
 
Compare the PB cleaner to A2Z.

You say the PB is "acidic" -- you mean LITERALLY it has acids listed? A2Z has petroleum distallate products which I know aren't good, but if you wash 'em off like the bottle says, it's minimal to no damage/danger.
 
I like Hi-Temp's wheel cleaner, number 710. It is acidic, but not the hydroflouric acid. I really like this wheel cleaner. It does require some agitation though.
 
You would spend less time if you just crawled under there and used some elbow grease or better yet take the wheel off. ;)
 
Wont help I do use elbow grease and plenty of it. There are just cerrtain spots on my wheels that wont come off with a brush and APC or mild wheel cleaner like A2Z.
 
Below is the link to Mark V website where there is info on the wheel cleaners. There mag cleaner is acid based and the wheel brightener can be diluted 10:1, so it probably strong stuff. Call their 800# for more info.

Newbie here. I have the same problem when it comes to getting the stuff thats been sitting on the back of the rims for awhile. I've tried the totl wheel cleaner and it doesn't really get anyting off. The front side's are spotless,except for the deep corners. I have that wheel cleaning brush from totl too.
I plan on taking each rim off and cleaning them, but I want something that will attack all the crap on the backsides.
 
I emailed them they said they have no wheel cleaners that are purple in color. I think what might be in the bottle is Meguiars Wheel Brightner. Im not entirly sure though I will try it on my wheels and see.
 
I have tremendous success with AutoMagic's No. 727 XP Citrus Wheel Cleaner™.

I spray it liberally on wheel wells, wheels, and tires. Allow it to dwell for 5 minutes. Pressure wash.

I seldom use/need a brush...
