What's your ULTIMATE product combination?

As per the title really. I was thinking yesterday when I was doing my 1 Series how many of us Autopians pick and choose what products we use on a car depending on what we are trying to achieve and what we are detailing - depth of shine vs. reflectivness (is that actually a word?!:nixweiss), light paint vs. dark paint, ultimate shine vs. longevity etc etc. I have heaps of products on the shelf and even more in the post and get the feeling that this is going to be a never ending trend :D.

But, if you were only allowed one product combination that you had to use on every single vehicle that you detailed, what would it be?

Being a newbie, I'd be interested to see what people come up with. To keep it realistic let's say you're allowed:

  • 1 abrasive cleaner
  • 1 chemical cleaner
  • 1 pure polish
  • 1 sealant
  • 1 wax

Mine (out of the products that I actually have to hand) would be:

#83 for swirl removal

AIO as a base

AG EGP

#26

Over to you, fellow Autopians!:xyxthumbs

Ben

3M PI-III RC for swirl removal

3M PI-III MG for final polish

Klasse AIO for a chemical cleaner

Zaino Z2 Pro for a sealant

Pinnacle Souveran for a wax.

I know these 3M products are discontinued but I have enough on hand to last me a LONG time :)

1 abrasive cleaner - DACP

1 chemical cleaner - AIO

1 pure polish - Intensive Polish

1 sealant - I don't use. I love VM so I'll stick that in there as an extra product on my favorite list although not a sealant.

1 wax - Souveran

I use the same products for all my vehicles (3 black, 2 red and 1 white). All are non-metallic and 2 black and 1 white are clearcoated. Of course this depends on the quality (natural wetness and depth)of your paint if you are using on black.

Use both the rotary and a PC. PC 98% of the time.

Menzerna IP or DACP

AIO or experimental final polish/cleanser

Z2-PRO

Zaino Spray Sealant

QD: Z6 (90%) Sonus Acrylic Sptriz and WG

Sold most of my carnauba including Souveran, P21S and Meg #16 and #26. No visual difference (depth, gloss, wetness and reflectivity) after this extensive finish prep.:xyxthumbs

As I don't use "pure polishes" (according the the Meguiar's definition), like RedondoV6, I'll substitute another abrasive.

Altough I use different stuff on every vehicle I maintain, and don't use this exact combo on *any* of them, if I really had to stick with a few products they'd probably be:

PI-III RC

PI-III MG

AIO

Meg's #16

What about Collinite? I thought you were a very big fan.

I am! HOWEVER, if we are talking ULTIMATE favorites, Souveran wins hands down.

Collinite is the blue collar wax to take me throught the winters. But, nothing like massaging Souveran on nice sunny day :xyxthumbs

I'll definitely second that! :xyxthumbs

Here's what I'd have:

IP

FP II

AIO

Souveran

SSR2.5 heavy duty SMR

P21S cleansing lotion for final polish

AIO as a chemical cleaner

4*UPP for light colors, WG for dark

Paste Glaz for light colors, Souveran for darks

Abrasive cleaner - Meg's #80

Chemical cleaner - not used one yet

Pure polish - VM (final polish)

Sealant - AutoGlym EGP

Wax - P21S

:up

Have to separate them into two combinations.

Carnauba combination:

Poorboy's SSR2.5

Menzerna FP II

Meguiar's #81

Souveran

Sealant combination:

Poorboy's SSR2.5

Menzerna FP II

Zaino Z2-Pro

Abrasive - 3M PI-3000 SMR

Chemical - AIO

Polish - #80 (by hand)

Sealant - Z2 Pro

I only top with carnauba when I was still using Klasse, but after switching to Z2 Pro, I don't normally top. Don't see any noticeable difference, waste of product. This is just a personal preference. If ever I do, I'll go for S100.

Abrasive: Meguiars #80

Chemical: Clearkote's soon to be released Red Machine Glaze

Pure Polish: Clearkote's soon to be released Yellow Cream Glaze

Sealant-not on my black car!

Wax-Pinnacle Souveran

Abrasive: Meguiar's #83

Chemical: AIO

Pure Polish: Menzerna PO85RD (ceramiclear line)

Sealant: Menzerna FMJ

Wax: FK1 Pink Wax

Abrasive: Cerious Compound/Polish, on all but dark colors, this is the only abrassive you need.

Chemical: OEM One Step, I think it's more chemical than physical anyways.

Pure Polish: Haven't had any happy experiences with any.
