what's your largest detail?

I buffed out a 32 ft motorhome the other day and of course forgot the camera. Man, after holding the Flex over me head for 8 hours it weighed about 100 lbs!!!!

I was trying to think if I ever did anything bigger. I did this vehicle for the 4th of July parade. He has 5 trucks and I wash them quite often. For the parade every year he has me detail 1 truck to "parade specs". Again... I did not have my camera when I finished and got this pic after the truck had gone back to work the following week, still pretty clean but not as nice as it was. He is supposed to be sending a pic from the parade, when I get it I will update the post. Anyway you can still get an idea of the scale of the project.

washed, dried, wheels and tires were scrubbed. I applied Blackfire spray wax on all painted surfaces. He hired a few guys to help me w/ all the aluminum polishing, which was a HUGE job. These are awesome trucks...can shoot gravel or topsoil long distance with a conveyor and put it in a hole or spread it evenly. Also the truck can be run remotely.....the operator can stand near the hole and drive the truck in low gear and steer it where he needs it!!!

I've done a bunch of Kenworth and International trucks back in late summer 2007, most of them were beat and none of them really came out looking great (I don't think there were any with less than 100k). I did make a lot of money doing them, but I'd never do that type of work again TBH.

Wow... that 6 axel dump truck is SWEET!!!

Makes being a truck driver kinda cool!

Biggest I ever did was a motor home... that was back before I started documenting with pictures!:banghead::cursing::banghead:

It was also the LAST motor home I ever did!:scared:

A few F-4's C/D models, few F-16's A/B models, a few AWAC's and a few KC-153's and a few 747's also. I help out the flight line folks when they needed help to get these ready for Air Shows

It's actually not a dump, it's a shooter. The red arm you see on top of the wheels unfolds. It houses a convayer belt. The bed on the truck is slanted forward because the gravel feeds onto the convayer at the front and shoots out thew rear. The bed has a vibrating mechanism so when it's almost empty it rattles the rocks to the lowest point.

Instead of having a truckload of gravel dumped in my driveway and then having to get a machine to spread it, they just shoot it starting at the top and drive the truck remotely down the driveway, shooting as they go. The arm goes back and forth and spreads the rock or soil as thick as you want it. When they hit the bottom it's done!

I'll see if I can get a pic of it in action, it really is awesome to see.

Rocky, did you use the two bucket wash method for this one? That's alot of ONR to use! Maybe next year you could try foaming it with the Gilmour? That would be sweet!! :D

yup, two bucket method. I use 2 really large and wide buckets because I use a very large boars hair brush head that won't fit in a standard 5 gallon bucket. It's on a 10ft extendable fiberglass pole. I also have a special "stack brush" for the exhaust stacks on a similar pole. I dump and refill the buckets for the other side. These trucks can get very dirty so I spend a lot of time with HP hot water rinse before I ever get a brush on them.

When the economy was good I washed 5 of his trucks and a trailer every week! Took the better part of a day w/ a helper. Now all he can afford is a HP rinse once a month and has already sold 1 of the trucks.

I never used a foam gun.....would it be able to shoot the foam high enough to work on something this large???

also for Luster here is a pic of the "shooter" in action, this time filling a basement w/ gravel before the floor is poured:

No way! Those would be so much fun to work on!! I would love to get some work on F-4's or F-16's!!!!

I've been in the construction industry for over 30 years and I've never seen one of those! And we did heavy industrial and commercial projects also... (big jobs too! $50-$500mil!!!):scared:

Amazing!

Yeah they are super cool. Especially when the driver is standing on the foundation watching how much rock is being spread and running both the shooter and the truck itself w/ remote control. It's amazing that huge truck is just like a rc toy. They can drive forward, reverse, turn the wheels, adjust the windage and speed of the conveyer, and vibrate the bed......all from 1 remote control.

They use these primarily for gravel, but also useful for spreading topsoil/ mulch. I know in the winter salt as well. It takes almost all the labor out. If the operator is good, just a quick rake to smooth out the bumps and your done, no shoveling or using a skidsteer to move piles around. It cost a little more than having it dumped but makes up for it on saved labor costs

I wonder what that vehicle cost new??? High dollar for sure!
