What's your favorite chemical for hot water extraction?

Are you referring to the pre-cleaner chemical or the one that people add to their extractor tank?

After pre-soak and scrub, I always used straight water for extraction. Some companies sell a zero foam cleaner for extractors, but I usually avoided it.

Pro makes a great product called Extract power... I'm a fan of that with my Mytee extractor. Prior to the big Mytee extractor I used the same chemical with the bissel hot shot machine which was like 60 bucks or so.

the only chemical that goes in my extractor tank is a defoamer. I do as others have already stated. I will pretreat an area and extract with hot water.

Add me to the list of those only using water in the extractor's water tank and defoamer in the catch tank. But I do plan to pick up some rinse agent, which I hear works better than the plain water.

I use a number of chemicals for the pretreating: Griot's Interior Cleaner, ChemSpec Spot Lifter, Hi-Temp Pre-Spotter and Carpet Cleaner, stuff from 3M, etc.

Is there any particular reason why you guys use only water? It is the cost? or does it make it harder on the machine vs. other chemicals?

Using a chemical in the solution tank leaves a residue that will quickly attract dirt & re-soil very quickly. Use a pre-spray & use a warm water rinse. Using a buffered rinsing agent assures their is no residue left. You can use the same product jan-san supply stores sell for nuetrilizing a tile floor after stripping. A rinsing agent assures that there is no alkaline residue left in the carpet...especially for those that mix the dilution way too strong!

GTFreddy- What Poordude said :xyxthumbs I don't want any detergent/etc. residue on the carpet/cloth to attract/retain dirt. The cost of extraction/etc. chemicals is mighty low, a gallon of concentrate goes an incredibly long way.

let us know how you like the rinse agent please!

With any luck I won't be extracting for a good long time....but yeah, I'll post something when I finally try the rinse agent.
