What's Your Breaking Point?

We've not even had it 30 days, but my wife enjoys it. (She drives a lot more than I do for work/etc). It looks great when it's clean, which it doesn't stay for long with a 70 mile round trip drive for work, open parking (no covered parking) where she works etc.

This is the dark Grey (I think they call it Platinum Grey unless they changed it, not the reflex silver that was popular with the MKIV series cars. (I had a reflex silver 337 back then).

Zainoed 337 (digging this picture out makes me remember how much I loved using Zaino, I might slap some on the Sportwagen, that or BFWD or PowerLock.. hrmm)

Not sure if I have any good pics of my 08 GTI (Candy White) handy.

Then there was the 91 Corrado. This car never got washed while it was in my possession.

I also had two different 98 GTI VR6's. Uni Black and a blue which I've forgotten the name of now. I miss that motor!

You have some good taste, man. I hope to have as nice a catalog of cars some day!

That's sorta a tradition in firehouses, huh? Besides the dept. vehicles always being detailed, ever since I was a kid I've thought of firemen always having pretty nicely done personal vehicles. Guess it varies with the house, but anyhow...

My record on the DD is about 3 weeks, and probably a month and a half on the garage queen. My record while being a member of Autopia is about 2 weeks on the DD, and a month on the garage queen.

So, after two weeks, I couldn't handle the dirty car anymore. I got out the Griot's Garage Wheel Cleaner, Spray Wax, and soap. Finished the tires with Megs... Now all is right with the world.

^^^ Do ya'll have high pressure washers n stuff at the firehouse?

We do have a pressure washer... but most of us still wash the rigs and our pov's (personally owned vehicles) the old fashioned way.... hose, bucket and mitt.

The pressure washer comes out for undercarriage washing of the trucks and heavy duty cleaning of ground ladders and the ladders of the aerials.

Here are a few pics of our trucks...

A few months ago I washed the car every weekend unless weather was bad.

Since I moved in with my girlfriend, I can barely wash it every month. Too much stuff to do. It makes me sad to see my car all dirty and not having the time to do anything about it.

My poor TransAm hasn't been detailed in about a year. I washed her a few weeks ago though to go to a cruise-in. I felt like leaving after seeing what clean cars are supposed to look like. It's a shame, making money= no time to enjoy what got me into the game.

Mine does not get detailed but *maybe* once a year. Just washes and the odd coat of wax other times. I go about a month between washings. Last thing I want to do at the end of the day after washing 5 other cars, is wash another one...for free.

So, this song gives me motivation to clean my rides everytime. It doesn't matter what you drive, as long as it's clean and "ride good."

I can go pretty long now. It used to be 1.5 mo for a wash, but it's stretching to 4 and 5 months.

The biggest thing is that my car hasn't been polished for 2 years (more?) and while I haven't added many swirls it seems like it needs a light polish to bring back a really nice clarity. That's the most annoying thing. No time to do polishing after a two hour wash and clay.

Looking great. So how "detailed" do the trucks really get? It always seems fire trucks are hella clean - but we all know there's a difference in clean and the autopian level of clean. Regardless - some nice rigs you boys got!
