What's the latest on an inexpensive Paint Thickness Gauge?

The Defelsko PosiTest DFT can be had for as little as $470, but I refresh my entire supply of chemicals, etc. for that amount, so wondering if there's is a PTG at a lower price point that will have good enough performance to help me see where I should avoid that wet-sanding approach to deep scratch removal, etc.

Any thoughts?

Highline II for around $225.
Well, the Highline 1 is $225, the II is $275 - I don't really care about the compact-ness or the auto-orienting of the numbers. Is there any other advantage the extra $50 brings?

Wow, they raised the price up even more? I'd call them up and remind them those were $200 last year, and see what they might do for you. They seemed pretty cool on the phone when I called.
