What's the best TIRE cleaner?

Bunky- Thanks for posting about that, I know *exactly* what you mean about the Michelins!

If you think of it, post back about how the tires clean up *the next time* after having had the Mother's on them.

I have used it quite a few times now and like it since it works so quickly. I do need to spend some much time scrubbing tires.

Since I dismount, polish and seal my wheels, inside and out, twice a year, I don't want to use any cleaner on the tires that will compromise that protection on the wheels. I use car wash soap and a tire brush. Seems to clean up just fine so I haven't been tempted to use any other specialized cleaners.

Did you mean to say you "don't" need to spend so much time scrubbing?

My concern is that it might somehow make them harder to clean after repeated use.

Yeah, while I'm gradually switching my wheels over to OptiCoat, the whole "stripping my LSP" thing is a concern for me too. I don't have all *that* much trouble keeping my tire stuff off the wheels, but it's still a consideration for me.

No issues with the oh-so-gentle GG Rubber Cleaner, but that stuff barely even removes the dirt and brakedust.

Bunky...thanks for the great review on the Mother's. I've got some ordered to give it a try. On my personal vehicles, I keep them showroom clean at all times. They rarely get rained on, so I don't wash them very often Because of that, I get dust buildup and need a good tire cleaning. I'll give Mother's a try. Next I'll try the Groits Prep if it's not strong enough. Often I find other people's cares are loaded with silicone tire shine that just doesn't want to come off. Thanks for all the recommendations.

Right now I'm using Megs APC (D101) and a tuff shine tire brush. Also making sure you have a good foaming sprayer this will let the APC dwell on the tire much longer without running right off. I usually let it sit for 30 seconds to a minute.

Correct - I do not need to scrub. As another posted mentioned, it seems similar to Mothers Wheel and Tire cleaner but since it was not declared rinseless I never tried to use it that way.

I have not noticed any difference. I am curious what you would be expecting to be happening -- rubber degradation, build up something on the tire? I will probably clean then s after several washes.

I know Roshan got much better results from Meg's APC by using a foaming sprayer...I just use a regular trigger but then I have APC+ which supposedly foams less and the jury seems to be out which is better (APC vs APC+).

I wondered if it left something behind that might somehow make subsequent cleanings more difficult, the way ONR has behaved for me.

OPC diluted 4:1 always works great for me. Requires scrubbing though.

I'd actually be a little leery of a product that *didn't* need scrubbing! OPC is very good stuff, I just never seem to use it for this, my knee-jerk thought is that it'd be a bit pricey, but I bet it's not *nearly* as expensive as that Griot's Rubber Cleaner I use, and it'd be a lot more effective too.

No issues with OPC drying out the tires, or anything like that?

Used Mothers Back to Black Tire Renew a couple of days ago per directions. Had to re-treat because of heavy tire bloom. Worked really well. No Scrubbing! WIWO after 15-20 Sec. No issues with tires "drying" out. But, made sure to rinse off tires and sponge off rims after WIWO, to make sure no hazing occured even if OPC coated. Anything that works that well on tire bloom I'm a little cautious with esp. first time usage. Ran out of Zaino Z16 for a topper. Either have to get some more or:tongue2:try something else.
