What's recommended for sponges/mitts?

I've tried everything from the synthetic sponges, which I've come to think scratch the paint, to the lambswool wash mitts.



What are some recommendations for optimal results?



The latest item I've tried is the Turtle Wax sponge with the terry cloth-string cover.....very nice, but I'm pulling strings out of the cracks and crevices after almost every wash.......not sure what else to try, and I don't have the $70 to plop on a Griot's Boars Hair brush.........

If you want to try a good, less expensive mitt, perhaps you should try a viking wash mitt. That's all I use.
