so many options out there where do these brands rank,how does a guy decide

They're all great. The first mantra of detailing I ever read/heard applies as much today as it did when I first started: success is 90% process and 10% product. That said, I chose by two means: experimentation - which means I have an awful lot of products - and reading. The Click & brags are great because you get to see what folks use based on lots of factors. Their go-to's, the condition of the finish, the color, etc.



FWIW I started machine polishing with the Poorboy's SSR line. Good stuff, easy and intuitive to use, and pretty forgiving. It's still on the shelf, and it still gets used on occasion. For most polishing now I look to the Menzerna line.

Forget about waxes and sealants right now. Learn everything you can about proper polishing and watch videos of actual polishing so you'll know exactly how to do it. After you get your finish looking awesome from polishing, then you can top it with whatever you want. Understand polishing first. Everything you need to know it right here at Autopia.

being new to this all i have tried is the Poorboys (polish, sealant and spray & wipe). so far so good.



first thing i did was read the "how to section" at the top ^ and also @ Auto Geek to learn the steps first. then i wanted easy on/easy off products since i do everything by hand.



i think i read and gathered info for about 3wks and i just did my first detail this past weekend. i wish i had came here first. i had bought some otc products like TW Ice and Armorall wash/wax soap. the ice ill use for lense covers and the moldings but the Poorboys polish smokes the TW Ice and the TW was more expensive to:cooleek:

the Armorall soap is ok but for $1-2 more the Meg Gold Class imo is better. GC suds last way longer than the Armorall. I bought a few brushes luckily only 1 sucked and i cant use it and naturally i tossed the receipt. if i had came here i could have saved at least $30. i could have took that $30 and bought more of the Poorboys line. all in all, now i know

That's what is nice with Poorboy's products all are generally easy on easy off, especially when you figure out how each product works its best. All of the product lines the OP listed are great and will get the job done, but if you are working with a PC (or hand) you can't go wrong with the SSR polishes. The most user friendly product via PC, IMO. And that brings up another point, everything in detailing is subjective, everyone has a different opinion so take them for what its worth.
