What's a good wax for GM's reds? I want as much depth as possible

LikeaRock

...Dreaming on an E92....
Hello all,
Time to detail our 00 C/K3500 within the next week or so. It's got some swirls, but I think 3M will remove that. Not too many scratches, most can easily be rubbed out by hand.
I want a wax like the title says though, one that will leave a nice, rich deep redness to it. The exact color is Victory Red, so if any of you GM owners have this same color, reccomend a good wax for this color please!

Thanks
Dolan

I think you might be looking for a process more than a wax but thats just my .02

Souveran is excellent for red and black paint. However, it is a bit pricey. I've had good results with Natty's on red too.

hmmm! i would still suggest u get something more reputable for removing and or hding swirls or scractches on the paint. somehtign like colorx. if u want a good otc wax id get some #26 or 3m show car wax!

my vote gets Souveran - but as a topper on a sealant. You'l like EX very much. I also like Wolfgang's and UPP.

Thanks guys!

I do plan on more than just a wax too. I purchased a new Meguiars clay bar last weekend to ready myself for the job, and my neighbor has some 3M Siwrl Remover I can borrow off of him. I'm not worried about trying to order some Poorboys or anything, the swirls aren't bad luckily. If I don't get my desired results, I'll probably try something else then.
I'll hopefully get it done within these next couple of weeks. We're supposed to have rain in the forecast this weekend, UGH! But then again, the forecasters haven't been tooa ccurate around here this season :dancin

I've got myself a can of #26 somewhere on the shelf outside, I'll have to give that a try. Would it work good as a topper over a carnauba based wax? Or the other way around?

I did my truck with P&S products clay then ultracoat polish and topped with ultracoat wax polymer sealer ... ive done it over again with carnuba instead of sealer and it looks much deeper .. i like carnuba way better .. the sealer is too bright for me but it depends what you like

I kind of like Zaino--But my truck is Ford red? :naughty But I must admit That Eagle One Nano, It works awesome on my boat. And last at least three months with very extensive use during the summer.

#26 is in sence a carnauba. I have heard that it isnt 100% but its a carnauba none the less. The #26 would be your topper. You can put down a sealent and then top that with #26. Some poeple use NXT and then top with #26, that would be stuff you can find locally.

Thanks Greg. I'll probably try the sealant with #26 as a topper, I hope it turns out good.
A local performance parts store carries Klasse and another product, I can't remember the name of it of hand though. I was thinking about giving the Klasse a try, so I'll have to see I guess. I'd like to try a couple different waxes on it, just not sure which ones work best with each other. There's also a local detailing store I'd like to go into, but they're not open weekends, and I rarely have time to even think about going down there during the week.
Thanks for all the great info guys!

LikeARock? Dolan, is that you? Hey, I know that guy. :)

For the vehicles you detail, I really think you'd like the Poorboys' line. Easy to use, great results, and you can apply them in direct sunlight. I'm thinking after a thorough detail, one or two topcoats of EX-P would look fantastic on that red truck.

Not that you do this, but a lot of folks are afraid to invest in the "premium" brands because of the cost. The thing is, though, you actually spend less money in the long run because you're using less product. At least that's been my experience. I've bought a ton of stuff - Four Star, Adam's, Poorboys, P21, etc....to go along with a bunch of Meguiar's products that are still on the shelf. They each seem to have their niches depending on paint color, condition, and amount of metallic.

Good luck!

Take care,
Jerry

I said the same thing when I saw your name
:lmfao

It's not the cost I'm afraid of, I just don't have a credit card available to order products off the internet. Don't get me wrong, I'd love to use the Poorboys line. If I can talk the father figure into ordering them for me, then I'll probably get some SSR 2 and most likely some EX-P. It's been almost a year since I'v waxed it! Poor truck!

Most, not all, sites on-line will take Money orders, takes alittle longer but
does away with credit cards for those not using them.Cheap place to get them is Post Office. Just A thought. To buy an inferior product and spend the time to use it and get less than satisfactory results is a true waste. If you are here and reading and thinking of spending the time then consider the product also. Its not the wax that makes the finish on vehicle shine and look great, its the process.Just my .02

Another option would be to set up a Paypal (or similar) account. I think then you can directly pay businesses using your banking account. Just a thought.
