Whats A Good Pre-Wax Cleaner besides AIO

All you need is Duragloss 652 #2 Cleaner. It will do all that it's asked to do and more:

pre-wax cleaner polish should:

1. Chemically clean deep into the pours of the paint (something clay cannot do).

2. Provide a very light polishing to remove oxidation and brighten single stage paints.

3. Rollover the hard edges of fine swirl marks to diminish their appearance.

4. Add gloss and slickness in preparation for a quality LSP.

Now, talk about products that actually do that!

The above just decribed Duragloss 652. Mike

How many other polishes have you put up against 652 directly? Since 652 is all we need, Menzerna, Sonus SFX/SwirlBuster, Hi-Temp, Optimum, Poorboys, M80/83/82, RMG, VM, etc. have all suddenly become obsolete! Amazing.

The guy is only excited with his/her own results, give them a break. Personally, I appreciate what everyone has to contribute (too many products to try not enough allowance from the wife  ). Everbody is going have different favorites and will swear by them, at the end the difference is not much among quality brands imho.

As well as it takes a long time to try everything!

It seems like every product I use for the first time works better than anything else I've used... Very rarely am I dissapointed in a product.

They all do what they're designed to do, the difference is what they're required to do.

I wish I could use #66 for every car I do, but sometimes it isn't what I need!

True, but the narrowmindedness (is that all really one word?) of some people amazes me. Duragloss is fine, Zaino is fine, Wolfgang is fine, Sonus is fine, Poorboys is fine, Meguiar's is fine, so on and so forth. I like to hear everyone's favorites, but there comes a point when it becomes annoying listening to the infomercials from the same people over and over again.

Where will (insert product name here) be in 2007?

Don't know why the sarcasm or the attitude and neither do I care . My comment was meant as a product others might want to try along with others favorites they have posted. No one said anything about any product becoming obsolete so get your shorts un-bunched and read what was said before you come on with the childish sarcasm. Some of us have favorites for a go to product. It's obvious that you have a problem picking one. Don't take it out on us. Thanks, Mike :nixweiss

I don't have any problem picking favorites. I have plenty of favorites. When it comes to the point where the product pushing becomes a little overbearing, people start raising eyebrows. I read exactly what you wrote, and since 652 is "all we need" what makes it so much better than some of the others I listed, since you seem to be so fond of it, and the rest of the Duragloss line in its entirety?

If it's such a wonder product, I might try some myself. If I'm just supposed to take your word for it that it's the better and makes other forum favorites obsolete, then I think I'll keep raising my eyebrows.

Black Sunshine, I'm not here to push any product on anyone and that's not what my intentions were but neither do I see anything wrong with singing the praise of a product I like on a detailing site where people ask for my or your opinion on products that we have tried and what works best for us. This gentleman asked for opinions on "Whats A Good Pre-Wax Cleaner besides AIO ?"So I gave mine. If you don't like people answering his question then what more can I say but "don't read it" and better yet if all you have is negative comments why comment on it at all? It's not your thread. Mike

You can't take the internet so literally and seriously. Everything is IMHO on the internet, :chill: :waxing:

I'm not trying to call anyone out or put anyone down, just trying to get an answer to my question. I think people would be better off having an open mind and be willing to try other products rather than being stuck on one thing. I made that mistake in the past.

I'm all for finding something you like and using it often. I guess if it ain't broke, don't fix it. :geez

Prime Strong hands down.

That's true, an abrasive polish will clean your paint, but do you really want to thin your clear coat just to get it clean?

How many pre-cleaners are there that *truly* have no abrasives?

I've REALLY been wanting to try some Prime Strong. How is it as far as removing minor swirls?

From my limited experience with it, it seems to be on par with pre-VOC AIO.

Since I already have some AJ, I think I am going to pick up some prime strong too. My question is where in the routine does it go? Before or after claying? Before or after polishing? What would the sequence be?

After claying and after polishing.

I agree; seems very similar to the old AIO in terms of swirl removal; so very light. I would only really use it as a swirl removal polish in the case of almost new cars with very light marring.
