This one car that I detail has a faiding bumper that I am trying to shine up, I tryed armour- all, but all it does is make it worse. what would you do? :wall

I'm assuming since you used armor all that this is a black plastic bumper or is it painted?

If it's plastic I would use some Poorboy's Trim Restorer. It turns the plastic back to black. There are also some OTC comparable products available from Mothers & Meguiars that are restorative products if you can't wait. The Armor All is really for protecting not necessarily restoring.

If it's painted then I would polish it, but the clear coat may be gone which could be the problem.

As an alternative to Trim REstore you mite try Forever Black. Have found good success with lost causes. It is my last ditch effort kind of thing but does produce passable results.

Chip it would be beneficial to you to be more specific in the title of your post.

Here is a good post that GregCavi did a while back GregCavi's trim restoration

You would find many other options with the use of the search function as well

Good luck

I agree its really hard to give solid advice without the type of car, year, color, pic if possible....also where the car is and how its stored...these are all helpful for understanding what might work.

Good point. Chip, the more details you give when you ask a question the better the answer you'll receive. Even if you think it's irrelevant give the detail. Also, pictures are REALLY helpful if you've got a digital camera or access to one.

Trimonex anyone?

Here's a link to a product that I wish someone would try. :)

It is one of the things I am considering using in the spring to repair the streaking of the body cladding on my Montana. My alternative is painting and that may very well be what I will do, but the people at Trimonex feel that their product would cover my streaking with no problem. Definitely with their dark gray and probably with their medium gray. It would sure be a lot easier and cheaper, but cheap and easy hasn't always been a good thing for me.

Would the clear one be good for about any color or are you really trying to match the color.....I have a grat plastic bumpers on my Sentra that I would not mind using something like that on...Currently I have product that coats it pretty well but you have to replay every month or so

After a few e-mails, my understanding is that if you have a uniform color as a base, the clear is all that is needed for coating. You would need their cleaner as well. Probably several things would clean the surface, but if you use their's, they can't blame your prep if it doesn't perform as advertised. In my case, I would need something with color in it to cover the streaking.

Thanks Charles

I bookmarked the page for future use this is an interesting product for those applications that need it.

I got the stuff thru my automagic dealer. You'll have to email scratchmedik and ask them about shipping on it.

I beleive this stuff is a simalar product to the trimonex charles mentiond.

I know for a fact this stuff will work on restoring the depth and sheen to plastic bumper covers, mirrors, etc. I've used it on my own cars as well as customers. And i've yet to see it fade away or wash off since i have applied it. its been almost 6 months and counting.
