Hello,

I've been detailing as a hobbie in my garage for many years doing friends and family. I recently lost my job after being a Quality Manager in the Automotive Industry for 10 years.

I have an oppurtunity to perform some detailing on fleet of vans which are being washed everyday or every other because the owner is in the cleaning industry ie. carpet cleaning. Therefore the vans on the outside are always clean.

I'm being told the owner is giving me an oppurunity to provide his company with detailing at total of 24 vans.

I need some advise! What should I charge? Per van or per the fleet? And how much? Interior is only the drivers and passanger area. What would be an average amount of time per van? There is alot of decal's.

Thank you

Tell him your inexperinced in this sort of thing and you'll need 1 van to test out to see how long it takes. Tell him you're going to charge "x" amount per hour and you'll average the hours per vechile. (normally 4 hours is more than sufficent for a basic detail) then figure out what the going rate is by calling other detail shops in your immideate area (not on a message board) and see what the locals would charge for such a task.

hellbent, I'm by no means a pro but do detail part time. Since the vehicle(s) wouldn't be very dirty (i.e. cleaned every day or two) I would think you could power through them rather quickly. Sounds like a prefect application for ONR on the exterior and a Woolite+H20 mix interior. How long would you expect to work per vehicle? Why not set an hourly rate that you would like to earn with the idea that you could take care of X number of vehicles per hour?
