What would you Buy?

:help: Hello All, I would like to put this out to everyone with a little experience detailing or alot of experience detailing. My question is:

"What would you buy if you were just starting to get serious about detailing and had $500.00 to spend on new equipment and products."

I am going to need a Machine. I have been leaning towards the PC or UDM. Someone has recommended the PC over the UDM because they are essentially the same thing however there seems to be more products available for the PC and it has a proven track record?
What do you think?

Then on to paint correction products, sealants, Waxes.

I will be working on my Metallic Silver 06 TL and my Wife's Black 07 IS250 mostly but I am sure I will be detailing many other peoples cars also to make alittle extra cash on the side. I think I need a pretty flexible line of products to correct bad paint and pretty good paint. This is where I am really hoping you guys/gals can help me. I'm losing my mind over which pads to get and use with which product???? :wall:wall

I'm not trying to dismiss your request, but your best option, IMO, is to read as many product reviews as you can and base your decision off of that. Our sponsors are a great source for equipment and products and you really can't go wrong if you order from them. They have been in this industry quite some time and are only going to offer quality products. I'm sure everyone here has their favorite line of products, but it's more about what works for you and your technique. Detailing is a lot about personal preference. What works for one person may not work for another.

it took me years to figure a good product line and then they come out with new products , its a viscious cycle ..... it really depends what your looking for in terms of results/price
i like turtle wax ice spray wax, its a good quick wax
most of the over the counter waxes work really well meguiars and mothers (can be applied by hand.....the stuff you can get off the sponsor websites are amazing, i i think the pinnacle souveran wax is amazing last forever and highly reflective (you would want to apply this with a machine), and poorboys products are really good to, my favorite is their 2.5 swirl remover (apply with machine) ........ thats a start

Like Audi Boy said, picking the right products and pads can be a very tough choice, but......
While I have used a lot of different pads, polishes, paint cleaners, waxes/sealants, and quick detailers, the one constant for the past several years has been Poorboy's Spray & Wipe. It is probably the one product that has truly become a staple in my stock.

Beyond that recommendation, I'm not much help. There's a lot of good stuff out there and whatever line you end up with will probably serve you well.
You do need to give some thought to what you want the products you buy to do for you. It's pretty easy to end up buying more products than you really need or use. There is a lot of overlap in what they can do.

How about Aquawax? I have heard good things about it.
I would agree with you about the DC deal and the fact that I also think the AW is a good product, but......
You won't get it from the Detail City Store.
I also consider the OCW and the AW to fall into that overlapping category I mentioned. Both good spray waxes. Do you really need two spray waxes?

Charles

I agree with you about detail city store not selling AW,I didn't say it did.
May be I should have said AW instead of OCW since a lot of members here like AW ,as a matter of fact I just ordered both for myself .
At the price of $7.50 a bottle I don't see it being a big deal to get both. The past few months I have tried quite a few products and learnt quite a bit, enough to feel my opinion may be worth something to a newer enthusiast as long as is not baseless and I don't hesitate to share it.

And I didn't say you did, but since the point of your post seemed to be about buying from DC Store, it read to me like it was something to be added to his DC order. My apologies.

There was no intent to slam your opinion in any way.
My thought is to keep people from buying a lot of products that they don't really have a need for.
There's another thread going at this time where someone has both Poorboy's SSR1 and Klasse AIO and really only needs to use one of them. It probably isn't a big deal to him, either, but it is money that he could have spent on something else.
The hobby can get expensive in a hurry if you start chasing the "flavor of the week". Then people get frustrated and leave the hobby. I would rather not see that happen.
Like I said if you feel I stepped on your toes, I apologize.

Charles

No need to apologize ,we both meant well.
I still think :yourrock;)
:thanks
I think we did. :)
Sometimes my mouth gets ahead of my brain. :blabla: Then I make an :ass out of my self and I need a :bonk: and my comments need to be :swirly:

You might want to consider one of the kits like the PC with Poorboy's or XMT. It's very hard to decide the best products to get. But on th whole, I don't think you can go wrong with the Poorboy's, Duragloss, or XMT lines.

Thanks for all the plugs for the DC store guys.:bigups

BTW, if you really want the Aqua Wax and are wanting to buy from DC than I'm sure we could get some in for you. In fact, if there is anything we don't carry and you want, we can probably get it in for you.

Hmmm. Let me clarify - - In the detail product and supply category. Gotta be careful what I say. You guys will be asking me for call girls and all kinds of wierd stuff.:crazy2:
