What will you use instead of #16 after its discontinued

I'm going back to using my all-time favorite, which is Blitz wax. It has great durability like #16, but will look better on my black vehicle given the fact that Blitz deepens darker colors.

I think that those who like #16 have or will stock up on it. A little goes a long way and it seems to store well. A few cans can last the average consumer several years, which will provide a long time to find something else you like.:)

Too soon for me to know what I will use yet, I stocked up on #16, and have a full tin of Mothers.

Right now I'm using NXT without a canauba topper and my black Hemi looks great. If I should decide to use a topper, I'll get out the jar of S100 that I have for my Harleys. It's easier to apply and remove than #16

I definitely agree with this. I get about 6 weeks durability from #16. I can get about the same from #26 , 476S, 3M and Griots paste wax. Any would be a an equivalent to #16. They are similar in appearance and about the same in difficulty. They are harder to apply and buff off than I have to deal with, because there is easier available. Blitz is easier to use than these, but I only get about 4 weeks from it. On the other hand, I can get 4 weeks from other waxes that are a great deal easier to use than all of these, without the dusting and staining. If durabilty is an issue, I dont even waste my time with a carnauba. I use a synthetic like Klasse, that I know will last 3 times as long.



Aside from slight variations in oil content, scent, etc. the P21S/ S100/ PPG/ PSS/ PS/ TS wax is much easier to use, and it lasts about 4 weeks. Thats damn good for a beauty wax. Any supposed differences in these "different waxes" are so very minor that I dont see any reason to pay more for one over another. I love the smell in the Pinnacle but I choose S100, because its the lowest price that its labeled under. Its just damn hard to beat S100 as a general carnauba wax. I can do an entire car with S100 in the same time it takes to do a front clip with #16.



While #16 isnt a bad wax, there is certainly better available. Im an "old school" kinda guy for sure, but when it comes to wax, I choose new products that are just simply easier to use than these old cake waxes..
 
On my red truck, I currently use 1ZPP/AIO/NXT/#16. I have a basically full tin of #16 on the shelf, so that will take several months, if not years, to use up. When I am tired of it or use it all up, I will probably just leave it with the NXT as the last step, and just do an application more often than I have to with the #16. With the booster wax, it's not a big deal. I love the look of NXT anyways, and I just use the #16 for an additional layer of protection, since it's known for its durability more so than NXT. Or, I may try P21S over NXT... or KSG for durability and save the wax for my next toy. I also wouldn't mind trying Natty's. Who knows :nixweiss

That's what is weird about detailing. One product may be easy for one person and hard for another. I don't find #16 any more difficult to use than S100, maybe just a touch more effort to remove. I apply and remove it just like S100 using razor thin coats. :nixweiss



I do agree with your assessment that all the others are a breeze to use. BTW, you might want to try Natty's, very similar look to S100 but wetter, at least to my eyes. :)

I think the thing here is, you can get away with the S100 still wiping straight off easily even if you get a little excited and apply it a little to thick, you dont get away with it with the #16 unless you use it really thin. I have never found #16 a pain to use just not as easy as S100.
 
The funny thing is that by the time my #16 gets used up (one can half-full, 2 more cans on the way!), I'm sure there will be something else out there that hasn't even come to market yet.



On the plus side, I have been very happy with the paste version of #26, as well as TOL's Trade Secret. With my own cars, I really like trying different LSP's, so #16 being pulled off the market isn't going to be that big of a deal.
 
You're right.....I think it's strictly a US thing. Thank god we have all of these really bright politicians to protect us from harmful things. I sleep so much better at night because of it......or, well, maybe because of the Grey Goose. :)
 
The closest I've found to #16 is Mother's California Gold Original Formula Paste. It's a little bit easier to use, but has that same "old" feel to it. It has the same glossy wet look. As always, I can't speak toward durability.



The Collinites don't look as good, IMO. They appear more occluded to me. And I never was a fan of the S100/P21S stuff; too much reflection at the expense of depth.



And, for that matter, I'm not a big fan of #16. I have some, but I probably won't miss it when it's gone. It's not a go-to product for me, so, the answer to the original question is, "nothing".

I used to use the Blue Carnauba about 10 years agao but the detailing shop where I bought it from left Santa Barbara and I started experimenting with Griots products. Give them a try, the Blue Carnauba was pretty easy to use and looked good on my charcol metallic paint that I had at the time.
