What was your first car?

I saved up and bought my first car at 17. I wasn't looking for any particular model, just something to go back and forth to school in. My dad was the one that actually found it and brought it home to show me. We both fell in love with it. It was a 1971 Audi 100 similar to the one pictured below.

Unfortunately I only had it for about a year. After that my dad handed down the family wagon when he bought a new car. It was a 1971 Ford LTD Country Squire Wagon similar to the one pictured below. Believe it or not that car was a blast to drive. It had a 400ci V8 and although it didn't handle too well it felt like a rocket in a straight line

Purchased from by brother (2nd owner) in '98. Given to my dad in 2003 when I bought a new car. Has served construction duty for over 4 years now. Only expected repairs and replacement parts. The truck now has over 250k miles on the original engine and transmission. It's been an amazing little truck and has been in my family since '93! I couldn't have asked for a better first vehicle. The darn thing still runs great and gets 18-MPG fully loaded with tools! Unfortunately, it doesn't look anywhere near as good as it did when the pic was taken :(

My second car was a 1986 S-10 Blazer 4wd with the same engine. That little truck held up for 3 years before it developed a major head gasket leak. If I had really been thinking at the time, I could have shoehorned a 305 or 350 in there.

Would you believe a 1954 Studebaker? What a tank that was!

I remember hitting a line drive directly into the driver's door on a Studie of that era. It didn't even make a dent!!! Tank is correct.

I would pull up to a 4 way stop and everyone would wait for me to go ahead on. LOL. What a trip!

:grinno:

1987 Honda Accord that smelled weird when we bought it. After extracting the carpets and seats on three different occasions, it finally never smelled after that. Great car till I totaled it.

Not a very good pic, but my first ride was an '83 Plymouth Turismo 2.2 (Charger cousin). I bought it in '87 with only 5k mi on it. It was a great little car, and pretty fun (for the 80s). I kept it 5 years, and put over 100K mi on it.

'84 Pontiac Parisienne Brougham. 4 spd auto O/D with a 305. Holy batman was that car fun, had it for almost all of high school till the last 1.5 yrs, when I got my GA. RWD tank fun, could fit 10 people inside (a little tight but still) and it could eat Sundances like no tomorrow. I miss that thing a lot.
