What was in the box??????

I bought one M14 and three 5/8 plates for Nica. He tried to acquire it via 3M USA and Canada, but he wasn't successful. They knew nothing about it.

Thomas, Bence, and Ryan,

I have never used that backing plate obviously, nor do I prefer to use pads with such size difference like in the pic of Paul with his white pad. Question for you guys is, do you think you should be able to get better control with this bp because of it's thickness? It seems to me especially when using a large non curved edge pad on a smaller bp you lose a little handle and control. This would be the reason I see no need in buying the 3m. My lc bp is very snug with all my curved edge pads, which is why I think the friction and control is at it's optimal level, maybe that's not the case. I want to know what you guys think.

I like it because with 6 inch flat pads it gives the pad more contour on certain panels. It also dissapates heat faster. I still can use LC curved edge pads perfect with it too..

The biggest thing is when finishing with ultra soft pads, it gives you more contour and thicker cushion. With plain plastic backing plates, you can get backing plate impressions through the soft pads.

Thanks Ryan, that makes sense. It's just always seemed to me when using a pad with an inch on the bp, all the heat is generated toward the center, in which case the edge of the pad is doing nothing for the section you're working.

I had a backing plate like that the summer before last from TOL but I went through 3 of them in 2 months and then they stopped carrying them. I felt like it moved better and smoother and the results showed

No man, I was busy with 3 cars today.

Did you get the Ez Creme?

Yes I did....Thanks! I will have to give it a try when I get a chance. I have been doing more mechanical work lately than detailing cause of the cold winter here.:wall

Oh crap, I forgot you called last week and left a messege. Sorry man, I will give you a buzz tomorrow.

Use sparingly to cleanup after polishing. It dissapears into the paint.

I think in that picture Paul uses a 6" pad on that 5" bp.

The LC VC pads that I see you 2 using, you want a 6"pad for. I like those pads myself.

While I haven't tried it yet just pushing on it on its own it must make a huge difference vs the regular BP. We will see.

This seems to me to be very accurate. It seems logical that even with no forced pressure on the pad that the exterior wouldn't have the same surface friction as the area that is underneath the backing pad.
